Will we look to loan out Albie and George now? I would’ve said to keep them both before the deadline but we brought in so many midfielders that I struggle to see them both breaking the gameday eighteen.
Suspect we might want them to go to “local” clubs so I had a quick look through the League One options...
Gillingham
Southend
Wimbledon
Wycombe
Any good fits there? I liked the way Wycombe tried to play at the Valley last year. They might be good for Albie to develop with.0 -

There were times where I thought Solly did perfectly fine at LB, and would argue some of his better performances last year came there.
That said, it wasn't until Dijksteel was given more freedom to get forward at RB that I understood why I thought Solly looked decent at LB.
I always thought Solly didn't get forward much at RB the last two years for tactical reasons. I thought because we had such attacking left backs, he was meant to play deeper. I should have known better after the Walsall away game last year when Robinson brought Clarke over to the right to cover him.
The reason he doesn't get forward from RB much is a lot of his pace and agility have gone. I take no pleasure in saying that. We all know he's not the player he once was. But at LB it was telling that he only had to get to about the halfway line, cut inside, and pass. It was good for him because he didn't have to stretch his legs. There wasn't an expectation of barnstorming overlapping runs. When Dijksteel came in, you saw that we could have two attacking fullbacks as long as they had the athleticism and positional sense to get back (it took Dijksteel some time to adapt to the latter). But once he came in, our attack looked much more balanced.
RB remains a concern for me. Regardless of what you think of Solly, we know he's unlikely to play more than 30-35 games at best. Deji is quick and looks relatively tidy on the ball, not unlike Dijks when he started at RB (doesn't have the technical ability of Dijks), but I don't know how comfortable he is there. Sarpong looks a good option as a wingback, and he's going to be quite a player, but I don't think he has a League appearance yet, does he? I thought the Alberto Redondo link at the time seemed weird unless we felt we really couldn't rely on Solly. It now makes a lot more sense. I believe he's still a free agent. Definitely seems worth a trial. And given he's coming from Getafe B he'll probably have much lower wage demands than players playing in England.
None of this is to question Solly's commitment or defensive ability, nor how good of a servant he's been to the club. But he had a lot of injuries at an early age and it feels like they've caught up with him.1 -
Bowyer’s said we need a right back, I’m sure neither Solly or Oshilaja will be playing there all season.1

IF Taylor does start playing up then we could still sell him before the end of the month.......to a L1 or L2 side.
Tell him Pompey or Ipswich have come for him - I'm sure he'll like another stint in L1.
Thats the stance I'd be taking IF he doesn't get his head done - but I'm sure he will & he will be back to his striking best.
You can't just sell a player.0 -

Dont really want any players on the fringes of the first team to drop more than a level below us - Wiredu on the other hand would probably benefit from a League Two loan1 -

There’s still some strikers on frees in case. Will Keane scored a few in a poor Ipswich side. Gary Hooper is ok, Ross McCormack.
Balotelli has just done well for Marseille but not sure what his attitude is like these days? Could he do it on a wet Tuesday night?0 -
Imagine us signing Balotelli.1

You can't just sell a player.
Club A - "we'll give you £4m for Taylor"
CAFC - "done"
Club A then speaks to Taylor, offering him 2x what he is on now. Taylor leaves.
Not hard to understand & not sure what "rules" there are.0 - Sponsored links:

Expecting a right back to come in on a free, and maybe even another striker (not including Hemed). Doubt we will find a decent striker knocking around without a contract. If their is one Gallen will find him.1
