South London nightlife

Just thought that we'd have a thread for us *ahem* younger addicks who like to hit the tiles on a friday and saturday night. Just wondering where everyone considers good for a night out south of the river. Peckham's being going on the up and i've heard tooting can be a good night. Just wondering where everyone else hits?

been thinking about going tram and social this weekend, never been, what kind of music they play there? More of an indiehead and my mates are east london hipsters so would be good to represent south london as i've managed to convince them to come south of the river this weekend.

As an area, Peckham is solid. You've got Frank's; Bussey Building; Peckham Springs; and lots more. Canavan's, if you fancy some pool.

In terms of other decent nightlife - earlier on in the night, I'm a big fan of things like Pop Brixton; Lewisham Model Market; and I hear Woolwich has something similar too which I want to check out.

New Cross has the Royal Albert (good music, good drinks choice); Amersham Arms (open late, relatively cheap, fairly large, fun music); Venue (lol); New Cross Inn (good for live music); and a bit more.

    ---------------------

Basically I love a sesh so if we want a CL post-promotion tear up, let me know

was always a pub man myself. gigs were always good so New cross can be alright for a bit of live music. Brixton used to have the Jam, the windmills still going strong and the new pop up area aint bad. Lewisham lost the dirty south but the fox and firkin still is still going. Greenwich and Deptford still have a few pubs for music that are lively but most close by midnight.

Peckham seems to be moving to the forefront for a proper late night out.

hope it comes back fully, doubt it though. was never great but it was alright for a good night out locally with a bit of music thrown in. pissed me off that it was attacked during the riots. course not the only thing that pissed me off during that.

Not places to go if you don't enjoy hipster hotspots where everything has to be 'ironic' in its presentation.

Also, I reckon I've done somewhere in the region of 50 Venue nights out over the years. Legendary place.

A lot of decent boozers around Brixton market/station, particularly in the summer.

Ha, after almost a decade of absence, heading to the Venue Sat night for a friend's 42nd birthday!
Having spent almost every other weekend in there from 16-30something, its going to be a bit of a shock I think.

Depends what you're after. If you live in Kent the venue is there to contain you and your cocaine needs. Bar Mantis, Deptford is good if you want a chlled out vibe and a dance. The Fox and Firkin has an amazing beer garden, nice pizza and live music.

The best places have thankfully not been mentioned yet, hopefully they'll remain secret.

I hate pop ups, Lewisham Model Market is vile and I refuse to go to a multistorey car park in Peckham unless I'll driving an industrial size lawnmower which can take out hipsters.

I used to go there most Fridays and Saturdays. I remember one week I went on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Loved that place. Not been for about 20 years, so will be interested to hear what it is like now.

My best story in there was getting hold of a bird on the middle floor, she went to get a drink, by that time she got back I’d moved on to another one. The first bird came back and I could see out of the corner of my eye that she was going to launch her drink at me, I managed to get out of the way and the drink went straight in my mates face.
