If we let on we know what they're up to, they'll know we've been spying on their spies. And they'll retaliate. I suspect they don’t consider it as money laundering if the government encourages the money to come here, they think it’s only money laundering when the money they’ve encouraged to come here is handled by a bank or you or I. If it was so concerned it might be asking questions like how come when so many of us now use contact cards and online banking there is more cash issued by the Bank of England now than there was say 5 years ago (look it up on the BoE’s own website); and when was the last time you needed to use a £50 note or lots of them to pay for something ? 1. Sky did not require the FA to hive off the Premier League as a separate business entity. They wanted only to show top level football. What happened to the money, they did not stipulate. See Germany, where the Bundesliga remains subordinate to the DFS, and the money flows down more evenly.Redskin said:

2. Actually there were signs that the transfer market was calming down, just before Abramovic came on the scene. he splashed the cash (which should have been building Russian hospitals) and they all did the same to try and keep up.
3. No Abramovic, no Chelsea bid in January. Parker might have gone in the summer, but by then we may well have been in the UEFA cup place. As often discussed here. As is the reasonable hypothesis that it marked the start of our decline.
4. At least we can agree on Abramovic as an individual.
