    It's not the delays that have meant they can't take him home to die, it's the fact that they can't get the ventilator through the damn door into their house! That's why GOSH are recommending hospice care, so they can get away from the hospital but still have appropriate palliative care for him.
    I am fairly sure they approved him to die at home?

    Doesn't matter now as all parties have agreed to Hospice care.

    In principle yes, then they discovered that wasn't a practical option. This is why I'm rapidly losing sympathy for the parents - they seem to be clinging to this idealised idea of how this is all going to play out and so dragging the court case out even longer, rather than actually dealing with the reality of the situation.

    That's a couple of hours out of date :-/ The doctor mentioned turned not to have the required skills when questionned by the court. As of about an hour ago, the parents' lawyer was arguing for an extra 48 hours




    I'd literally just watched Rozenberg discuss everything that had happened up to the point the media were sent out when I made my last comment. Since then they've come back in, and it seems like the judge has decided there can be no further delays beyond tomorrow

    An incredibly difficult and heart wrenching case. His passing away was, by all diagnoses, inevitable. But this whole situation has been incredibly hard. I understand his parents' desire to do anything they can for him, and there is no right way to grieve. I just hope they can find some peace now.

    I'm really impressed reading through this thread. If this had happened in America we would have people losing their minds saying doctors killed him (in fact, if you read through some of the comments on social media you can see that).

    Parents should never have to bury their children, it's one of the most fucked up things in this life.

    Think the media have handled this in an appalling manner - especially the Mail. Hysterical reaction from those on Social media.

    Glad that the little boy has been allowed to end his suffering.

    I hope the parents get through this.

    RIP. Sadly the only thing that could be offered to this poor little soul was to be at peace. We all wish there was a magical cure and we should be sympathetic to the parents and their pain, but the past few months should not have happened and some of those involved are beneath contempt. No winners here. Very sad.

    Been following it recently and it's a horrible situation where nobody could win. Parents have had what will hopefully be the toughest part of their lives and I hope one day they can move on, even if never forget.

    There has been so many mistakes but undoubtedly any decision would have had its downsides too and it really was just one of those awful unfortunate situations, RIP.

    My third child was born on Monday gone. I really don't know how I would feel, or what I would do in this situation. Such a horrible position for the parents to be placed in. Sometimes nature is a **** to the wrong people and I hope the parents get all the support they need.

    Was a total no win situation from the beginning it's such a sad sad story with a tragic and heartbreaking end

    The pain I feel for the parents and their loss is huge
