The first first team friendly is always a moment for optimism and while there haven't been a torrent of new signings two key players (Pearce & only today Homes) have extended their contracts and no major players have been sold or released as yet.
There are still gaps left by the loan players heading home but Marshall and Clarke are solid signings for this level and while Fosu maybe a wild card the news that Kashi just might be available will have even the most cynical Addick harbouring some hope of a better season to come. It could hardly be worse.
As ever the proof of the pudding will be in the eating and we've had false dawns both last summer and last January but for now a good team seems to be slowly being built without too much interference from Belgium.
Not too much will be learnt either way tonight as Robinson is likely to vary his team and subs over the three games tonight, Tuesday and Wednesday. Fitness and the beginning of team understanding will be the aims tonight rather than the result but winning is a good habit to acquire early.
Page and Lennon are unavailable due to injury while Josh Magennis has only just returned from international duty. New boy Clarke had a slight knock but trialists Cameron Stewart and David Martin may play. Expect to see most of the other 25 players feature at some time but for this reviewer at least the player to watch will be Kashi.

I've got to say I don't mind the white kit, although it could use a bit of something else because it's quite plain (I know it's just a training kit/stock kit). Still think it's very weird that we're wearing kits that aren't quite the same as our third kit which won't be on sale while we wait to see the home and away kits.Henry Irving said:1 -
