Richard Murray

Can anyone advise me is Richard Murray still a director of Charlton? As he is still shown on the web site as a director despite stepping down as non executive chairman!

Surely sitting next to Katrien while unwell would not be considered advisable by any doctor. Or actually even when well come to think of it.
  • He is about £20m richer today as Avesco has been acquired at a substantial premium

What Off_it said, that the club has 4,982,564 shares and Roland is in control. He can do as he like, and could tell Miere and Murray to feck off whenever he wanted.

AFAIK that's indirectly, as Baton 2010 Ltd have 100% of the shares, and Staprix NV own 100% of those shares. That form is a new one though, but I presume it's worried as "People with Significant Control" for precisely this reason: it simplifies complex chains of control and ownership.

The dreadful duo (Roland and Katrien) and Murray are the 3 active directors.

Amongst the previous directors there are a few legal/accounting firms, the old Fan Directors, past CEOs (I.e Varney), and other previous board members. (Over the past few years with a greater turnover, due to the likes of Kavanagh, Slater, Jiminez, Prothero etc)

I can imagine Murray wanted to step back from the business, with his health issues.

How do you know he supports the regime.....I wouldn't mind betting he doesn't, but has boxed himself into a corner which is difficult to get out of.
Why on earth would he support the regime, he knows they are an unmitigating fuck up......one thing he ain't is stupid.
I admit he does seem to associate with them more than many of us would like but he may just be boxing clever, time will tell.....who really knows?
By the way, have you ever met him?

    Yes I have met him.

He has quoted himself in the media and shown up at meetings with Meire, the facts do not hide.

He should have kept his trap shut if he does not side with the Belgians.

He supports the regime by still being there and sitting alongside KM. If he knows they are a ruining our club , come out and say so and yes I have met him several times over the years .

Mmmmmmmm, his support of them was for the most part when they first arrived.
Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see him speak out too....but I'm not aware of him showing them any tangible support of late.

Who do you think is advising Meire, she hangs on his every word,Slade and all the British Managers we are looking at will be Murray's advice.
He loves being involved talking to agents ,football people etc.. thats why he hangs around, that and the chance to get involved with the next owner, and the next owner until his last day.
He sold himself to the deadly duo on the first day, based on how he could help them in U.K with his vast football knowledge, otherwise ask yourself, why did they let him hang around.?
Watch their first ever Video meeting when they all talk about his role.
He is there because he is involved,he is not Chairman because of illness? he is fine now apparently, and that removed the stick and negative focus he was getting, but he is still advising Meire,I have no doubt.

Leave it out, he was still opening his beak up till 12 months ago.

They have destroyed all the good work he did over the years and he still backed them up.

He cannot have it both ways.

He could have told them where to poke it and walk away but he stayed. His money is ring fenced, walking away wouldn't have affected that but he chose to stay. He's as complicit as RD and KM. Any credit he was in disappeared long ago.

This plus he loves the power, almost an obsession I am led to believe.

The "Interview" which he gave nearly a year ago, which was in-fact a pre-planned Q&A whereby the club wrote the feckin' questions (seriously?!) and the answers presumably came from Roland, nailed his allegiances. There's also the rather misguided dismissal of the protests as "just a message board thing". He's firmly on their side.

To be entirely honest, the whole excuse of "He pumped lots of money in that he won't see again." is the weakest possible excuse too; after all, if he's never going to see that cash again then why is he standing shoulder to shoulder with them? There's no financial rhyme or reason as per this defence, just pure personal preference.

It's bitterly sad that he's ill, and no one can argue that he led Charlton Athletic to some brilliant times - we genuinely do have a lot to be grateful for. Unfortunately that's not a defence for standing silent whilst that hard work is undone, and whilst (possibly irrepairable) damage is done to our club. He's actively facilitating the destruction of Charlton Athletic Football Club, and the concept of keeping him around was only to give some credibility to Roland and Katrien.
  • He is keeping a low profile I guess so fans get off his back and when new owner comes along he can blame it all on the deadly duo and say, " They never listened to me,I told them they were screwing up!"
As bolloxbolder said this is an obsession for him,his club in his eyes and always will be.
No Varney,No Curbishley as they all fell out.
  • I just hope the next owners buy him out and tell him to do one.
