  • Protests putting off potential buyers is such a deluded thing to say and believe.

What might make it seem less deluded would be knowing that he's saying that in a belief that he does actually want Roland to leave and that this has all gone tits up.

I read on Twitter he also said "Roland has not fallen in love with Charlton"

It depends what and why he says that.

If it's in defence of the regime or sucking up to Roland then it's a joke.

If he's just telling it like it is and thinks this shit show maybe coming to an end sooner rather then later, then ok.

I think the quote of RD not falling in love with the club is designed by Murray to back up his words that it's better to have someone not emotionally attached as the owner.

Meanwhile Steve Gibson and Middlesbrough seem to be doing OK in The Premier League and hasn't even had an equivalent long serving manager like Curbs.

Just seems like these sort of quotes are the only way the old fool can justify it all to himself.
  • "He made the point that in the long-term it is better to have a 'sensible' owner, like RD, because this is likely to lead to consistently sound decision making and a more sustainable operating model."

Just reflect on how far from the reality that statement is. "Having an owner like RD is likely to lead to consistently sound decision making and a more sustainable operating model."

Gobsmacking, really, that anyone could take it seriously in the context of the numbers.

The model may seem sustainable. The reality is something quite different.

Murray also said something around the protests putting off potential buyers.

I thought the club wasn't for sale?

If potential buyers are savvy enough they will understand what the protests are about - and that the passion can be harnessed to get behind a half decent and committed owner.
what would a potential owner fear, if they knew how to run a club, engage with the fans, and had success at the heart of all their decisions? If they knew the first thing about football, it would be that the fans make the club. To this day I don't know why Roland owns clubs, he has no clue

I can only assume we've scared Red Bull off - unless the Venkys were looking for a second club to start their own network.

Tony Bloom at Brighton too, Sits in the away end with his family at Brentford.

    Roland on the other hand...

Murray has backed the wrong horse to get his £2m back but perhaps he now feels it's better the devil you know. Furthermore being at the club's 'top table' is like a drug to him which he just can't do without.

Sad that his relationship with Charlton following his altercation with tango man will leave such a sour taste in the mouths of many.

And that whole affair showed a pathetic lack of class. We should have seen it coming.
Cares about his ego than the good of the club. No different to Roland in that respect.

He sees himself as the linchpin on football related matters with his connections down the years and you only have to look back earlier in this thread to see what makes him tick as observed by one of the former directors.

He's very much part of the ongoing problem.

It was the £75m price tag that scared them off - they are still laughing about it several weeks later.
  • He's as mad as a hatter looking more like Mr Burns everyday.
  • With his "contacts" in Europe, could it be he who interested Duchatelet in Charlton????

We'd do better with Coco5. They had real class.

What sums the bloke up is the question was asked whether the protests affected the players and he spoke up saying they did when there was a player sitting next to him. Cold statistics show that our record on protest days compared to non protest days is pretty impressive. Dined off the back of Curbs and was happy to tell everybody he was the best chairman in the league, but the minute Curbs left we saw how fortunate he was to have had him. He is no a pathetic figure. Anyway off to St Trinden.
