Christopher Nolan is a genius. TDKR was the weakest of the three imo but still epic. The mans never made a bad film and I can't wait for 'Dunkirk'.

Well, the first two Batmans weren't so bad that I didn't see the third. But jeez. Also, Inception is such a boring vision of what dreams a) are like and b) can achieve, psychologically speaking. Mind you he's probably better off making films about real stuff, like Dunkirk, so maybe it'll be ok. Back to slagging off Casablanca now ;)

Inception is awesome, and considering its rave reviews and fan rating, you are firmly in the minority on that one (a place I know you love!). Then there's Memento, Following, The Prestige, Interstellar, Insomnia. I'd say he's pretty decent.

Each to their own! I try to stay off movie threads because I'm even more of an insufferable snob about film than about anything else :/
  • I think it can depend on your age when you see it. Surprised The Matrix is getting so many mentions, but I saw it when I was about 14, which is probably the right age - I thought it was amazing. I showed it to a friend at uni who had never seen it; at about age 20, she said she couldn't see what all the fuss was about.

The first Matrix was good, the others rubbish. I watched it a few months ago with my 9yr old and we had a great talk about it, probably similar to the chat I had with my brother when we first saw it.

Every Adam Sandler film except Happy Gilmore.
Pineapple Express and other stoner movies.
Greenstreet and any of the follow ups, embarrassing.

Dreams happen in that movie, but that's not what the movie is about.

    in order ...

    1. Toy Story 2

    2. Terminator 2

    3. Shrek 2

American Pie 2 is great, Godfather Part II also, X-Men 2, Matrix Reloaded, Beverly Hills Cop 2 & Austin Powers - The Spy Who Shagged Me.

Aliens - totally different to Alien so hard to say if it's better but it's certainly an excellent film.

[cite]Posted By: Solidgone[/cite]Went to see Shivers when it was first released years ago - the only film I have ever walk out of before the end - made me sick to watch a pile of pooh coming out of the plug hole and finding a warm resting place between the poor unfortunate (or fortunate?) lady's legs.....what a waste!

Shivers...I'd forgotten about that one. The 70's has a lot to answer for when it comes to producing naff films.

Am I the only one on here who liked Shivers?

[cite]Posted By: uncle[/cite]District 9 what a load of crap. I was given free tickets to see this film but would have quite happily paid not to. Walked out after suffering about 25 minutes of it

Watched this tonight actually. It works on so many levels - drama, comedy, socio-political allegory... It's a work of genius.

Not quite genius but certainly a good film.

Anyone who cites The Matrix on a 'worst ever movie' thread hasn't seen enough movies. Or The Catcher.

Only God Forgives is some pretentious unwatchable shite, and I normally like films like that

I Heart Huckabees is the most pretentious, pointless, smug movie I have ever seen. And I've seen Darjeeling Limited. I'd love to burn the negatives of both those movies.

My friends and I had this discussion - are there any trilogies where the 3rd film is the best in the series? We could name plenty where film 1 or film 2 were the best but arguably only Lord of the Rings saved the best film to part 3.
