Response from the club re Behavioural Contracts
I don't suppose this will get the same level of social media coverage but at least they have responded swiftly to something. In truth it shouldn't have ever got into the public eye since it was a matter between an individual and the club and was, it sees, resolved.
I think this is hugely damaging for the club and, again, has got blown way out of proportion - the truth is much less glamourous than the letter would have people believe.
I hope the person who got the letter is proud of themself though - they come out of it looking like a wonderful person....

That person has just highlighted what they are really like. Fair play to him/her for having the conviction to put it out there for everyone to see.11

The response has been posted on the other threads.. you must have missed it.
And I hope it is hugely damaging. BLOODY GOOD JOB... well done Quentin.12 -
There is a bigger problem here though - i know numerous people who have been intimidated by the club and haven't renewed this season for fear of Similar actions.
@boggzy for invading the pitch.
The Belgian lot for there antics.
@Airman Brown has been confronted by Katrien if i remember correctly.
@LouisMend confronted for being negative by Slade.
@The_President for visiting Katrins family's house.
I know i have had several calls with the club about last seasons antics. and i believe if we all renewed this season they would have done the same to us.
There is definitely an agenda of intimidating the ring leaders of the protests. and trying to silence us. to a certain extent it is working because many dont want to go back to Belgium and most people haven't renewed so wont be in the stadium this season to protest.2 -

So if the club initiate and address something to me directly then it will necessarily have to stay as a private matter between me and the club? What if I feel that I have been mistreated and want to expose this? (It's not me by the way, this is hypothetical). I haven't entered into an agreement with them, they can't initiate something, unsolicited and then dictate the terms. And frankly, they should have known, given that the recipient is clearly not a fan of the regime, that there was a fair chance that this would be leaked.Swisdom said:http://www.cafc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/charlton-statement-3243379.aspx

I just don't think that your argument holds up.
And let's not forget, all he has actually done is release the club's own words, were they actually reasonable then there would have been no story in it. Unfortunately for the club, the general perception is that the club are trying to control things over which they should have no say.

What an odd post. Not really sure what you're getting it there Swisdom, could you explain further? It seems that you're saying the club threatening a fan with removal of their season ticket if they post anything on social media that they don't like should have stayed private - when the response to the letter coming out shows just how significant it is to have it as public knowledge - and that the fact it was resolved should be the end of the discussion, when the fact it was sent in the first place is the real issue. Are you having a dig at the person who received the letter at the end there as well? If I'm interpreting wrong then let me knowSwisdom said:http://www.cafc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/charlton-statement-3243379.aspx

I had reached the stage of beginning to think new season clean slate. Let's see how things go.
The bullying attitude of the Club towards a fan expressing his views in a free country has changed all that.
Members of my family did not die in two World Wars so a jumped up Belgian Schoolgirl and her henchmen could go around bullying people and curtailing legitimate free speech.
I will be donating once more to the Protest fund when I can.20 -

I'm not praising the club - they had to respond because it was all getting out of hand.

So Swisdom, in a defence of the Club you are also accusing said individual of stuff the Club has not, if it's not 'pretty'. Care to go into detail? I'm sure if it was that bad the police would be involved; if it's the slating of players and swearing at football then that's football for you, if its the online posting he's done. TalkSport have gone over these and see them as nothing more than aggressively put emotional sentiments.
Ever heard of emotions? Defend your club ffs. The club you love, and will want your children to love may be no longer if this carries on.8 -

However, the fact that they can waste their time calling in an abusive fan for a meeting but not an abusive player (Roger Johnson) is ridiculous. So fuck RJ and fuck the club.2 -
The video that was recorded after the letter was sent? That video?
Have you even read the letter?
You really need to have a little independent thought, don't just believe what the club say, they have a history for this sort of thing.10 -

The club's statement does not relate to the words in the letter sent.
The club also discussed the video footage, after which the individual apologised on several occasions for his behaviour and assured the club that he would not continue to engage in an abusive manner.
He was accompanied by the Chairman of the Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust who witnessed the individual’s apology.
The meeting ended amicably and, as he appeared sincere in his apology, the club handed the individual his 2016/17 season ticket and he was not asked to sign an Agreed Behavioural Contract.
