Somerset making a real point of promoting their youth....they've only got Gayle,Jayawardene,Allenby,Arafat and Van Der Merwe playing. For a non-Test playing county , they've certainly opened up their wallet this season - i wonder if they're a county that might need financial assistance end of this season.?
Are Kent persisting with their non-overseas line-up this season ? - if so, it makes Somersets stance really unfair.
Kent has 2 overseas players, Latham for the summer and Rabada briefly. It always amazes me how few local players many other counties have, when compared with Kent.

Hadlee, Imran Khan, Marshall, Roberts, Holdings, Garner, Clive Rice, Mike Proctor, Asif Iqbal, Wayne Daniel, Sylvester Clarke etc, those were golden years for County Cricket in many ways, especially for the quality of the fast bowling0 -

Just comparing the Oval with Canterbury says it all. Even the Kent ticketing website seems a bit amateurish when compared with those of the major test ground counties, it uses your email address to generate publicity emails, but individuals have no unique referenceThe Oval is also used extensively out of season which helped Oval Events, a trading subsidiary, to bring in £9.1 million.
That's a massive amount of extra turnover, higher by itself than the total income for nearly all the other counties0 -

John Shepherd (Bridgetown) and Asif Iqbal (Hyderabad) both played for Kent long enough to earn benefits hence the tongue in cheek comment at the time.
They were almost like normal county players in comparison to many other overseas players because of their relative longevity.
Bernard Julien was around for a while in the early mid seventies but that was about it for Kent nd overseas players in that period.1 - Sponsored links:

Bernard Julien was a West Indian all rounder who bowled medium fast left arm. He played a few Tests in the early to mid 70's and in the 1975 World Cup final. He joined Packer and although he was still under contract to Kent did not return in 1977 because he thought he would be sacked. Kent however, unlike counties like Warwickshire who sacked Dennis Amiss (re-instated after a leagal battle), kept their Packer playes; Knott, Underwood and Woolmer.0
