So work on Sparrows Lane being suspended turns out to be nothing more than unsubstantiated rumour. It also points to the likelihood of RD still being the owner next season and that all talk of RD selling up is just that: talk.

Bit odd then that the Sparrows Lane hold-up was briefed to a senior management meeting last week in March and Richard Murray is positioning himself to remain chairman under an Elliott-fronted takeover.

Who knows if the Elliott thing stacks up? Everything is talk unless it happens, but it's certainly being explored.
Has Peter given up the ghost on making a bid Rick?

And one player thought Watt would be with us next season. Said he didn't have a big falling out with anyone although he does have a row with a different player every day (he laughed and implied/I inferred it wasn't seen as a big deal just Tony being Tony).

Watt wasn't there and I think it was said he was in Scotland recuperating from his op.

Tony will be back once Johann is sold. ;-)
  • Tony Watt in league 1, I'd take that - he would absolutely frighten defenders down there.

PS Murray clinging onto his seat in the boardroom would usually be hilarious, if the club wasn't such a shambles.

He's turning into a bit of a boardroom mercenary. Doesn't matter who the owner is, as long as he gets his padded seat in the West Lower.

Thanks for the report, Henry. Pretty ghastly mood all round it seems, although it sounds like more fun than I thought it would be.

We were Tony Watt's sponsor this season, then Lookman's, but couldn't face going to be honest. Got drunk in Simpsons and then the Jampot instead.

Old school City drinking...Like!!! Jampot was a great favourite from the late 80s onwards, along with the Red Lion, the other side of Lombard Street. Happy Days

Spoke briefly to Riga and he was pretty low key. I didn't get a hint that he knew his future although one player seemed to think he did and that it wasn't good (for Riga). Meeting with RD tomorrow according to one player.

Thanks for the as ever informative report Henry. This stuck out for me. When you say tomorrow does that mean from yesterday's perspective or today's? Either way I guess it means RD is around today as well, but will he make an appearance at the game tomorrow? Fingers crossed...

Bloody hell, can you imagine what Tony Watt going home to recuperate entails !

You know when you read in the paper that a football club receives CVs for managers jobs from guys who have taken Woking to the Premiership in 10 seasons on football/championship manager? Why do I get the impression that's how KM got her job.

Interesting feedback. As poor as some players have been this season you cannot fault them. Not knowing where you stand in any job is a hard position to be in, irrelevant if you like your career path and are on good money. A new manager every few months with the person in charge being ridiculously poor.

Great insight hearing from the players. Being a footballer is a job at the end of the day and like all of us in our jobs, things piss you off and there are general annoyances that crop up about your employer. Really interesting to hear the players openly talk about the concerns that they share just like the fans do - really highlights for me how bad it must be if they are happy to talk relatively openly about these topics. I'd imagine an unwritten rule is to keep a neutral opinion when discussing the Club with fans/media. Also insightful to hear of players knowing other players would be keen to join the club, I've never really thought about it but the players must have a good network of fellow pros from previous clubs etc who they must discuss this kind of thing with.

As others have said, it is gutting to hear the problems identified from people with the inside view. It's easy as fans to get the arsehole about things based on some poor results or a couple of players not putting a shift in, but when you are hearing that training methods, contract negotiations, management styles are this tin pot it really adds a whole new level of acceptance to the protesting to get this mob out. I wouldn't blame the whole lot of em for leaving this summer. Who deserves to work for a company/boss like that.

"around 90%" of players have a clause meaning their wages drop with relegation but different percentages depending on each contract".

And Rolands not planning for relegation. What a fucking joke.

Isn't that fairly standard for clubs these days ? Those that don't have a contingency for relegation get financially screwed if they do get relegated and are committed to wages out of kilter with the league they are in.

I imagine people would be angrier (if that's possible) if they didn't have them in the players' contracts.

Yes it is standard - as are release clauses so it goes both ways.
  • Sorry was Lookman told to "Man up" by one of his team-mates after the Bolton game or a fan?

Derek Hales and Peter Garland have both flown to Scotland to make sure he behaves ;)

Don't want to re-open the whole POTY dinner debate but these reports from Henry and others suggest that the players are much more likely than we might have thought to want to engage with fans, even after such a difficult season.

Wow. Thanks for passing on the players' insights. It's a comfort to know that despite all the crap, there's a core of honest guys still in that team.

Funny to think that the first team turning out at Dulwich was the first sign of crisis.

Given that players at various clubs know each other and chat, the lack of any respect for Meire and the way she has behaved will put off many potential signings as much as the general malaise at the club. Which makes it more important than ever that her position is made untenable by our actions at the last two home matches in this division.

The sponsors dinner is included in the package that is bought usually at the beginning of the season. I don't see why people should boycott something they've already paid for.

Well plenty of st holders are boycotting having already paid for their seat. They have a similar understanding to a boycott that I have.

...Roland and Katrien - all of football is laughing at you.
...Roland et Katrien - tout du football se moque de vous.
...Roland en Katrien - allemaal van het voetbal wordt lachen naar je.

I assume Watt doesn't have a relegation clause and is on decent money. Hence our desire to loan. If nobody wants him, League One is possible. Well done Henry for getting a very telling sense of how the players really feel about all this crap.
  • Thank you all for the insights. I feel strangely that we are very close to rock bottom and will soon be on the way back up.

Does Richard Murray have no self respect? I'd love to know what he honestly thinks he has to offer to the club after standing by and watching it be destroyed for the last two years.

Surely Elliott will be chairman should his consortium be successful.
