The issue as I see it is that Roland is a wealthy man who is looking to build his football network in order to prove his vision of how clubs can run works - so an offer that can't be refused would be a figure that no-one is realistically going to offer for Charlton.
    I think you're probably right.
  • But, maybe he knows that no matter what happens, he won't lose money. Did he lose on the Standard Liege deal? The way the debt is loaded on the club, it could be win win for Roland no matter what happens.
Interesting view point, very interesting actually.

Say he bought Charlton for £20,000,000 (although, I'm aware it may actually have been less) - surely the ideal time for him to sell would be when the debts owed to Staprix hit around £20,000,000. These debts will accrue interest, essentially giving him a tidy profit the longer they go unpaid. What's the value of being owed money? In reality, not a lot until it's paid - but as far as the accounts go... he can still count it as an asset surely?

This also means that whatever he sells the club for could be considered pure profit too.

Couple of people tweeted/emailed the show last night saying that the protests clearly don't effect her because she was standing speaking to Rick holding the Pinnochio mask and wearing the sticker whilst smirking.

That is what she was trying to do. Convince wavering fans that it's not working and demoralise them and persuade them to not protest.

Don't buy it for a single second.

It's page one of the propaganda handbook.

Trying to prove she's not rattled. The mere fact she felt the need to engage Rick shows she is.

    Indeed.
  • Indeed.
What exactly did she say airman? Out of interest.
  • As she was after the "inciting a riot" meeting at Sparrows Lane.

I wasn't there afterwards but a very reliable and pro-KM source tells me she was shouting and screaming and then in tears after trying to pick an argument with me.

Ironically she tried to pick an argument over me taking photographs. When I offered to delete the pics (of the team training about 200 yards away) she went into one.

Ironic because a few days later she was seen photographing the demonstrations outside the west stand and then complained that people had not liked this.

She is rattled, she's out of her depth and sinking fast. Cajones and Joyes keep telling her everything is Ok and she clings to the hope the Riga will turn it around but she is feeling the pressure big time. She is the CEO and she knows Roland can fire her as quickly as he fires his coaches

Must be so tempting to apply for a nice lawyers job in Brussels or Paris or London right now. Slip away and forget the last two years happened, put it down to experience.
I doubt she'd get anything like a nice legal job. She mugged off her legal career by calling it 'boring' when interviewed shortly after joining Charlton. Once you are out of the law it really is a struggle getting back in, even without her damaged public profile.

As I've posted before, Duchatelet is a genuine 24 carat crackpot with some kind of 'messiah' complex.

Anyone who doubts it should read his interview by a Belgian journalist in issue 10 of the Trust News where he compares himself with the war time code breaker Alan Turing and believes himself to be a “visionary” who sees things others can't:

He is one of only a small group of people who seem to know something special about what will happen in the future?

That's a horrifying interview; those words are delusions of grandeur to the extent that were they to be uttered by another man, it would not be surprising to learn that they'd subsequently been medicated and dealt with psychiatrically. I'm fairly certain I'd be in a bit of trouble if I saw my doctor and spoke like that.

Right down to the fact that he knows best about the lamps which should help the grass grow; I'm not a biologist but I thought that was simple science?

That's not you is it Rodders after working on a set of accounts for a month, without backing them up, that have disappeared into thin air?
  • Unless I missed it I thought Peter Varney said he would not be personally involved. So those bemoaning KM should remember that this potential takeover is not a return to the previous set up.

We don't actually know (do we?) who these investors are yet and what their motivation is compared to RD.

I'd like to see a change but the two previous changes in ownership surely tell us we should be cautious as fans as to what this might mean should it ever transpire. We we still well short on details.

What I don't follow is why the investor is apparently in no hurry and why relegation hasn't seemingly frightened them off. I hope it's all positive but I am curious as to the attraction in investing particularly if we are relegated.

Three months ago she probably could have done this. But now she is higher profile for all the wrong reasons and it's fairly obvious, if not from us from the newspaper comments of late, that she is out of her depth.

I agree she is trying to show she's above all this by her walks, engaging with Rick etc. But it does smack of trying oh-too-hard to show that you are not rattled when you clearly are. And she wouldn't be human if the abuse and attacks are not affecting her at all.

The start of the piece states Turing's shockingly bad sense of timing.
I was going to say a similar thing about Roland earlier.

For instance,He started an online video site long before YouTube.....unfortunately for him it was also long before many people were collectively online! So he scrapped it.

The whole charade with us may ,and use the term thinly, have held some water had we still been in league one when he took over. Again wrong place. wrong time.

I'm still not convinced he's got the stomach for all of this and his track record would suggest he's shown he knows when to give up the ghost.

Let's just hope we are not an exception to the rule.
  • If Katrien actually facilitated this takeover, they would be unlikely to want to keep her on, so she would really be engineering her own (well deserved) sacking. As for RM, he would appear to be once again wrapped up in his hatred for someone else, and prepared to sacrifice the club for his own hatred.
C'mon RD, do the decent thing and meet the buyers. If you care about the club, STEP DOWN!

I'd keep her on and make sure she did her job as per her contract. No way would she get her contract paid up early. She could always hand her notice in which would be gratefully received.

I'd like to share your optimism and I hope you're right.

However, he obsessively persisted in pursuing his somewhat eccentric and contradictory political ideas (i.e. a guaranteed 'Basic Income' for all citizens while simultaneously reducing state spending by 30%) for more than a decade despite derisory results (1 - 2% of the vote) :

And he appears to have embarked on the creation of his football 'network' scheme about the same time as he seems to have withdrawn from politics:

  • Just imagine the scene in the office when the Companies House stunt came to light ...
I'd have loved to see that.

  • regardless, if RM is putting together or is part of a consortium then that suggests that he believes RD is willing to sell.

He said in the interview that he wasn't ready to sell "yet" and that there had been many offers.

So maybe the door is ajar, if not fully open.
    I like your thinking, M Poirot .

  • I would like to think that Murray would now understand he will never get his money back as Charlton are just a puppy farm to supply the teams in the premiership and i guess the Championship now we are Division 1 bound
    Wake up Murray you TOSSER!!!
  • Would us going down increase the chance of a sale? If so, keep doing what you're doing literally everyone involved with the club. Keep doing what you're doing.

My understanding is no, because RD still wants to prove his breakeven project is achievable. @Henryirving2's use of the word 'yet' is interesting. I have heard this word used but it seemed in terms of years rather than months.

Why can't she just focus on actually trying to do her job better instead of all this stupid posturing? You've never had a role like this before, it's now universally recognised that you've done a shit job so far so, rather than having the big attitude, take a step back and try to change things you complete mug.
  • I can't imagine RD has a clue I exist.
    I'm pretty sure he does.
  • If you think they are rattled now wait till we are finished with them!

Rolland is gonna be furious very soon!!!
