PV responds to the fact that Meire has already contradicted Duchatelet's statement about his previous approach to the club and confirms the offer is still on the table.
It is true that I would be in at 7.30am each day and on a matchday there was always a script to ensure every little detail of the day was covered. My critics would probably say I was too hands on!”
Peter should really be ashamed of himself, hated it when he was too hands on, those years we were in the Premier League with a turnover of £40m were simply awful
It's good the interest is still there, gives a clear(ish) answer to the "what's the alternative?" questions some have raised and a goal for the protests.
Just unfortunate RD and KM haven't taken the hint yet and seem determined to stay.

I can't imagine to which little "detail" from Saturday this is an oblique reference.
After confronting you on Saturday Airman has she been in touch? I assume she'd be keen as by implying that you didn't want to talk to her face to face, and you making clear that the situation was quite the opposite, she'd be keen to set up some form of discussion?

Probably making sure that the napkins were folded correctly for the directors' meal - nothing else springs to my mind....
Offer still open....that is interesting and something we should, if possible, find out more about. If the offer is to invest first (by taking a part of the club) and then in the fullness of time take a full takeover perhaps RD may listen to that approach rather than a full blown takeover at this stage. It gives RD the opportunity to get extra cash now to help the squad maintain Championship status and remain part of the board for a period of time before selling completely!!

Probably too late for this season now, if we had significant funds at the start of January and someone other than Fraeye in charge, it could have made a difference
When the most successful CEO in Charlton's history, is called a middleman and treated like a West African email sender,(the billboard reference;did RD think PV was behind that LOL) the game is up for KM and Duchatelet and saddest of all Richard Murray who have managed to go from hero to zero.
Our biggest problem is Murray, as well as Duchatelet. Katrien Meire is such a joke and beyond parody now, she needs to be bypassed, which the consenus thought a year ago at Woolwich.
It's not just about making money, or else why the hell wouldn't they talk to Peter Varney who any one who has kept abreast of his activities, knows he has Middle east connections. So if not his present boss, a associate i would imagine.
'Rather than make comments about selling billboards he could make 30 minutes available to meet the person involved and then he wouldn't have to second guess what the interest is. The interest is in a purchase of the club, but also investing in the club from a sponsorship perspective, which is important because of the Financial Fair Play rules.'
This. Served up on a plate, but he'd rather keep going. Then we get apologists on here saying that we'd go under without his support. No, we are going down with his imbecile management. Take the offer RD, close the door and enjoy Sant Truiden.
If we stay up he has to deal with FFP limit going up to £13m meaning his break even model looks even more infeasible.
IF only Varney had approached Roland back last August when the team was top six and so the price would have been at it's highest.....Oh, yeah he did but KM wasted six months avoiding the meeting while the team, and so the price, went on a massive slide.

Inept as Meire is, it does sound as though for some reason Murray has had a major role to play in this meeting never happening.
I posted this stuff on another thread but pasted into this one because I still think it shows the gulf in ability between Meet You On The Corner Meire and Meet You Like A Proper CEO Varney and it was trying to raise a serious question after Roland's Report.:
A question for Airman - Did the welcome opening of dialogue on a street corner between our CEO and your good self yesterday actually prompt her to agree to a PROPER meeting of any sort between the protest leaders and her? Did she take your number or details, or suggest a suitable time for the chance to have a constructive discussion? If she did then that might suggest that this regime were trying to rectify some of the mistakes Roland referred to. If she didn't then that just indicates more of the same old tripe. Now I am not known for my psychic abilities, but some strange intuition tells me that no meeting was really arranged by Katrien Meire.;-) And if my clairvoyancy is wrong, and indeed there was, may I suggest, Airman that you check on the day if said meeting is actually taking place. Only sometimes CEOs can get very busy, very suddenly with other important things. Don't cancel tea with the vicar, Airman, or doing your hair on that day just yet ;-)

Totally agree. Murray obviously hates Varney and he's punishing the club because of his pathetic vendetta.

Murray will have guessed it was a takeover. He was bragging he had stopped it before Christmas. Then he claimed he knew nothing about it. Then it was pointed out to him he was copied into the emails.
“Both Roland and Katrien seem to go out of their way not to show respect to people around the club who could be an asset to them but instead have converted them into enemies of the regime and that has now extended to a large element of the fan base. The club is, of course, the victim in all of this and that is the saddest part of all.”

See also, Simon Jordan vendetta and the appointment of Iain Dowie.........Murray's proved good at these vendettas! Undone all his previous good work.....needs to disappear, but is hanging around to keep an eye on the money he is owed.

I'd love to know what the issue is between Murray and Varney. I'm inclined to believe it is at the root of the rebuff of Varney's overtures. Otherwise, it just appears like basic pig ignorance on the part of Meire/ Duchatelet.

I read it slightly different, @RM. I think it is a full takeover but, due to the amount they wish to spend (on players?), then some of the money has to come from a 'sponsership' (eg The XYZ Valley for £50M a year ;-)) to get around FFP limitations.

Great point RM - maybe if Roland had a bit more cash we could actually afford to buy players that have spent time playing football in recent memory rather than limping around the treatment room. I mean, it's not like we're danger of being relegated or anything, is it?
We must all bow to the superior experience and wisdom of Roland (football genius) and Katrien (popular figurehead) in this respect, of course.

Fair point @Hex, you could be correct there. However whatever it is, we somehow need to get RD to at least sit down and talk!!

I think the rules stop owners doing that ie sponsoring themselves as a trick to get around FFP
Airman, a couple of weeks ago I heard that Murray himself had some involvement in another interested group. You heard anything of the sort?
Yes, but "with" rather than "in" and I don't think that group has - or at any rate would pay - the money. One credible national journalist reckons there was a meeting of someone with Meire at which the likely price was discussed, which if true further undercuts her "not for sale" mantra. But bear in mind that Murray's been backing the wrong horse since 2006.

Says it all.
Well done AB/PV.
sorry, but I'm just getting angrier and angrier with these useless fuckwits.
THE OFFER IS STILL FUCKING OPEN RO-LAND, now be a good boy, pick up the phone and do us all a favour.

He said in the interview that he wasn't ready to sell "yet" and that there had been many offers.
So maybe the door is ajar, if not fully open.
