  • When and why did Murray and Varney fall out?

Don't hold your breath on this one, I asked this an hour ago.....

Maybe "you don't know what really happens at the club......."
  • Im assuming they fell out over the goings on under the last ownership that lead to Varney leaving, seems like Murray will side with anyone who makes him seem important.

He must have loved Roland calling him the president in the videos last week.
  • If Murray is "The President" then technically he is doing a worse job then meire
  • When and why did Murray and Varney fall out?

July 2012 - business ethics and the law.

I do wonder if Peter Varney is doing more harm than good to his proposed takeover bid with these digs at Ms Meire, even though she deserves them.

I still find it astonishing that on the most important day of the week (matchday) she rocks up like she's going to a footy match on her day off, just in time to enjoy the free prawn sandwiches. This really sums up her approach to the job for me. She loves the trappings of it, but she hasn't got a clue about taking responsibility for the actual running of the club and what sort of example she is supposed to set.

She will do everything in her power to scupper a takeover deal as she is totally beholden to Duchatelet for her job and she will never get another one like it.

She loves the pay, but because she's done basically nothing to deserve the job, why should she feel she has to do something to keep it?

  • I know I am preaching to the converted here, however I don't get the logic - successful business people buy a business, improve it, make it better, increase its value, then sell at a profit - it's a tried and tested concept.

However it seems that this clown buys a business, makes it worse, less efficient, lower quality 'product' and if he sells it he will make an f'ing great loss

Is it actually the case that he is a few sandwiches short of a pret a manger ????

There haven't been ANY positive things to come out of this owner since day 1 - even Mark Hulyer did better than that & at least under Sunley we got to Div 1 (ok I know we left the valley under Sunley, but for me to see Charlton in the 1st division was something I honestly never I would see, so I could live it.........for a while !!!)

There has to be more than this than meets the eye.........or I'm right and he's a nutter
  • Cant believe that they are treating him as any joy blogs, not someone who successfully run Charlton for years and is now rebuilding another team from scratch.

As I've posted before, Duchatelet is a genuine 24 carat crackpot with some kind of 'messiah' complex.

Anyone who doubts it should read his interview by a Belgian journalist in issue 10 of the Trust News where he compares himself with the war time code breaker Alan Turing and believes himself to be a “visionary” who sees things others can't:

  • Offer still open....that is interesting and something we should, if possible, find out more about. If the offer is to invest first (by taking a part of the club) and then in the fullness of time take a full takeover perhaps RD may listen to that approach rather than a full blown takeover at this stage. It gives RD the opportunity to get extra cash now to help the squad maintain Championship status and remain part of the board for a period of time before selling completely!!

The guy is absolutely minted, its not like he needs to sell for investment purposes
  • Seems to me the Rat may have told the old Bastard, help me get the club to league 2, or the conference, get the customers down to a few thousand so we can move them to a small tiny stadium in some dump, or better yet engineer a state where we can close the club down altogether, and I will give you your money back.

  • Varneys's opening email to Duchatelet explained clearly who he was and the kind of business circles he moves in.

How that could be construed as a billboard seller is beyond me.

I don't think RD meant that literally. It was his subtle little way of have a dig at both Varney and CARD in one breath. They must really hate AB.

it can't be long now until Murray becomes the prime target at a protest to make him realise just how unpopular he's become and that it's not just "a message board thing".
  • Well, one of Duchatalet and Meire - possible both - is lying, by the very words that they have spoken to describe the Varney approach. It's easy to see now why RD tolerates the bullshit coming out of Meire's mouth ... she has learned from him.

She strolls along outside the stadium waiting and hoping some one snaps. Remember the poor woman on the train story after Watford 2015?

Her being picked on and questioned worked in her favour.

She isn't intimidated but that's because she has already lost the respect of nearly everyone in football and British media (apart from her boss)

    She has nothing to lose.

It's strange she would approach Airman and need a reaction?....why? She has completely screwed up and is clutching at straws.

I reckon she also probably had a bit to drink that early afternoon.

Her approach to him was not accidental, nor is her walk to the ground. I suspect she actually wants someone to harangue her. And I wouldn't be remotely surprised if she has someone close on hand with a phone to film it (nothing official, make it look as if a fan took it). Those who are unfortunate enough to witness Squirrel Face's royal journey to the ground should check if those near her are the same every week. Can't think she makes a solo dash ...
  • Come on Richard Murray, we know you read Charlton Life. Don't ruin your legacy any further and do the right thing for Charlton.

It's ruined. He has nothing to lose and made clear a long time ago where his priorities lie. And it's certainly not with the fans and looks unlikely as if it is with the long-term future of the club.

Us Varney,s don't give in easily especially when we are fans not customers lol

But, maybe he knows that no matter what happens, he won't lose money. Did he lose on the Standard Liege deal? The way the debt is loaded on the club, it could be win win for Roland no matter what happens.
