The highest level of supporter ownership in the uk I've heard of is something like 20%? at Exeter...

If Roland won't sell, he could easily afford to gift 20% to a supporters trust.

It wouldnt massively impact his costs or profits, it would ensure the supporters and their representatives were involved and their well informed opinions listened to.

    Just do it.
  • "The beauty of the Championship is that it is the most competitive league in the world.”...

Yeah, we know Katrien, that's what we've been trying to get over to you and Rollie for two years now.

I reckon Owen Gibson has taken it all out of context though

Either that or he has poorly translated it all.
  • Top article by the way.

Good article. So where has our nightMeire CEO been hiding herself for the past couple of weeks? Hopefully she won't spout her usual lies and false promises at the meeting with the MPs.

She's had all this time off and that was the best she could come up with?

    Shoddy.

"We need to work out how to communicate better" maybe don't lock yourself away?

"We want to focus on getting it right. Once it gets out that the club is interested in investment, it upsets the fans, it upsets the staff"

    Really? Really???

Does she think the thousands protesting are singing the East 17 classic 'won't you stay another day' ?

This. What a load of rubbish. I don't think takeover rumours have ever made anyone upset. They make supporters excited.

Taken out of context again I think.

She means motivates and excites the fans.
And that is a bad thing for the regime.

And if you won't give it back
    We will fight

    You ain't seen nothing yet
This is the start of it
We're not near the end of it
    Because We are Charlton
    your not Charlton
    We are Charlton
    Your not Charlton

KM has clearly been told what to say, trying to be conciliatory. Every word drips with insincerity. No matter what she says, no matter what she does, she has gone way beyond any hope of reconciliation.

Interesting that PV apparently tried once again to meet Duchatelet as recently as 6 January, and was rebuffed (a step up from being strung along, I suppose). Hopefully, he and the potential investors are still there waiting. We need to tip the balance, to make Duchatelet cave in. Roll on Saturday.

just to add to this, does this mean that when they took over the club they destabilised it?
  • Typical PC brigade leftwing nonsense.

    Shoddy.

She's been shopping tirelessly for flame retardant G strings, methinks.

Her others have been catching fire of late......

Great article though. And more plaudits to Prague , bless him.

  • I'll sleep soundly at the thought of both...Brilliant piece, hats off.

Great article, more proof she is a lying, useless moron.
  • Looks like we are never going to get our wishes of an experienced manager/head coach under the ownership of Duchatelet. It also looks like the whole relaxation of the FFP, has really hampered Duchatelet's hopes of us getting into the premiership using their current financial model. We are just a club, that in the future, will get a load of cheap network players, combined with youth players and an inexperienced head coach, who will take any offer, just to get his foot in the door. We will resemble an under 21 side, in terms of, we are just a stop gap, on the way to bigger and better things. We are no longer a club. We will just be customers, Charlton will just be like a cinema or a shop, it's good, but you don't have any significant emotional attachment. I will support the club, but if this ownership is still in place by the time I have kids, I will really consider raising them to support a different team, where they can learn what a football club is really about, like I learnt about MY Charlton, growing up, before Duchatelet.

Come on what do YOU think she'll do ? :-)
  • Probably the best "independent" article I've read. Good to hear that Katrien has at last made it out of the laundry basket and is finding her voice, albeit spurting the same contradictory crap that we have come to expect. It was probably her warm up prior to the meeting with the MPs today, and then her much-anticipated sort-of meeting with the customers tomorrow.

Shes very strange. Doesnt seem to take anything seriously or learn or listen properly. She honestly thinks that potential investors upset the FANS. F*ck sake either deluded, trying to convince herself of that or lying to the interviewer to try and give off a different perception.

How long does it take to come up with an idea on how to engage with the fans better? She's been repeatedly saying that bollocks for a long time and never finds a laid out answer or solution. A sentence that makes me wana vomit by the way. The engage part...its just so stupid and meaningless. Patronisingly dumb.

She's actually the biggest wind up merchant ever associated with Charlton.

Taken out of context? Utter bs, she went off on one and set the tone.

I fail to see how going into hiding equates to engaging better with the fans. Maybe she went to the Lord Lucan school of engagement.

  • "The beauty of the Championship is that it is the most competitive league in the world.”

    It's a shame that weren't very competitive.

Would that be a poisoned chalice though? Owning 20% of a company is not a freebie it comes with responsibilities and costs. For example if the 80% shareholder wants to spend a couple of million on a new player who is going to contribute our £400k share? Would you want to pay 20% of the players' wages each year? Etc, etc.

Their idea of communication is spin and lie. That's it.
