This is a brilliant and revealing article. It looks as though Katrien met with Owen Gibson so there is 'new' stuff.
Not encouraging new, but new old stuff.

Brilliant piece. KM spouting bollocks again, need to communicate better, blah blah blah. Claims her Irish 'interview' has been taken out of context. Yeah, right. Nice yo know she's still around though.

From the secretary in his office to the guy who would bring coffee: he was seen as a total stranger, as if ’le président’ came from another planet. He made no effort to remember names, hired and fired week after week.”

    As we well know!
    Excellent report.

"We want to focus on getting it right. Once it gets out that the club is interested in investment, it upsets the fans, it upsets the staff"

    Really? Really???

Does she think the thousands protesting are singing the East 17 classic 'won't you stay another day' ?

that's what jumped out at me.

she really has no idea does she!

Very good piece apart from the typical odd Grauniad slip.

And he has also found the elusive Meire. So she will meet with journalists and MPs but not with fans?

“You can hardly explain the six managers. Nobody wanted that. We haven’t communicated clearly. We have to find a way to engage with the fans better,” she admits.

    ---

Urm, maybe not forcibly say in a filmed event that every one was an improvement perhaps?

'Taken out of context is absurd.'

And we also have this gem:

“You can hardly explain the six managers. Nobody wanted that. We haven’t communicated clearly. We have to find a way to engage with the fans better,” she admits.

The stuff about what Roland is like is pretty chilling.

Class act, Owen. I just left a message in the comments column, why not do the same? The volume of comment unfortunately guides editors nowadays. Retweet as well if he links the article.

She continues to dig her own grave with some of the comments. One day she'll realise she is killing her career.

    Excellent article. Detailed and balanced.

Get on the website, get the hits up, share it, comment on it - make sure the papers continue to report on this story.

    A question.

Where were all of these 'approaches' when the spivs were looking to sell?

Any utterance from her, Murray etc is now made to the press with the media in mind. It sounds good and reasonable.

“Results are very important but I think there is a lot of work to be done with the fans and I recognise that. There is a huge gap but why shouldn’t we try and improve things? We all love this club. I’m sure we can find a common ground. You can hardly explain the six managers. Nobody wanted that. We haven’t communicated clearly. We have to find a way to engage with the fans better,”

And yet we know from the past months it just bullshit. She has no intention of any communication with fans, nor does she 'love the club'. It's disgusting to read. She should get complete hell from start to finish on Saturday.

So Owen managed to get some time with Katrien then.

It's a shame that she, Roland and the new comma person haven't learned or heard of the first rule of having made bad mistakes that you want to remedy.

    You grovel.

We are really sorry we have made many bad mistakes. We sold players when we shouldn't have. We bought and brought in poor players because we did not understand what we were doing, we owned the equity but not the soil of the club.

We have appointed some managers who have not been up to the job and reactively fired them without a coherent plan.

We still haven't worked out what we need to do to change this. The reappointment of Jose is a start.

However I can reveal today that Roland has agreed to give 10% of his shared to the supporters to be shared between season ticket holders and Valley Gold members.

Supporters will be able to appoint a director to sit on the Board.

I know it's only a start but it's a start we want to make.

The thing is the spivs were at least smart enough to know a chancer when they saw one. She has probably politely turned down a consortium led by Jonathan Ackworth.

"The beauty of the Championship is that it is the most competitive league in the world.”

Stop going on about how great the Championship is.

She still doesn't get that our ambition should be to progress from this 'beautiful' league - otherwise what's the point?

Excellent piece. Unfortunately it looks like KM still thinks she can turn it around.
Katrien - we are so far post that point.

  • It's a great article. It's amazing that they still haven't woken up. Everything that's happened over the past few months and she thinks that she can get the fans back on side. I would love to know what her great plan is to re-engage, though it's probably just more lies, fed to the press so they don't look so bad.

Our ambition under this mob is to stay in it. Looking unlikely.

Turn it round and also win us round. Not sure which is the least likely. Surely she must appreciate she is hated?

Trouble is, if he were to be in charge and brought all those Welling and Ebbsfleet players with him we'd probably genuinely have more points on the board now :unamused:

Talking about the need to communicate better for the umpteenth time just after burying herself away for a month. And only then coming up to talk to a newspaper about it rather than explaining anything directly to her "customers".

This is a big deal. It should be noted that Owen Gibson is their (or one of their) #1(s) for the print paper. He has done a lot of investigatory work around FIFA, the Olympic stadium, and various other high profile causes, and he is a very good, proper investigative journalist. It's great to see him pick up this story, and the Guardian is usually good that once they get a story/expose, they write follow-ups.

You only have to look at her body language at that fans meeting at the end of last year, she had nothing but contempt towards those present and no intention of engaging with them.
