Ah, that would be my butler, popping out for a copy of The Times.ValleyGary said:Had to take the Sidcup line this morning. I now smell of Foie Gras, Tweed Jackets and The Conservative Party.

Unfortunately, yes. That looks quite serious and probably involves the signalling for the stretch.smiffyboy said:Photos of the landslide, looks like it has effected signal equipment, think it could be closed longer than a day

If the board get wind of this they will dig up the track either end of Charlton station to further reduce the potential for protests.0
-
They've been cack this year, last week I was late every single day. Leaving the house half an hour early didn't seem to help either! Delays, cancellations etc. Disgraceful0

no service on the bexleyheath line because of ANOTHER land slide in the barnehurst area, i dont see why they cant make a permanent repair to this as they charge near 60 quid a week for a 1-6 travel card crooks.
Haha. You got to be having a laugh.palarsehater said:i think its disgusting that stretch of track has had these issues for many years not exactly the 1st time it has happened, but they obviously dont do enough to prevent it happening again.

Cant he just drive around it?8

I would have thought they could run trains along the line, terminating them at Bexleyheath but I'm not sure if there's anywhere they can cross from the 'up' to the 'down' track before Lewisham.0

Knowing some of the SouthEastern drivers, they would give it a go.ValleyGary said:Cant he just drive around it?

some one's got hit at hildenborough, if anyone's taking the hastings line home... hopefully the person's alive and congestion is relieved by then.0

If I recall, the aim is to clear the track for "normal" running within 90 minuteskentaddick said:some one's got hit at hildenborough, if anyone's taking the hastings line home... hopefully the person's alive and congestion is relieved by then.

'Bright sunlight' causes rail delays
Can you guess who it is yet?

Of course it is.6 -
The wrong kind of sun.
Taking the piss as normal.0 -
I read about the wrong kind of sun at lunchtime and nearly choked. They never mentioned the landslide.
Are we quite sure we invented the railway? It wasn't actually the Germans?0 -
How can a Cannon street train have problems with sunlight in the morning? It should be behind the train in the morning.0
-
What about when its night... Does it become too dark to read the signs?0
-
just had a look at live departures from cannon street station doesnt make pleasant reading, majority of sidcup bound trains an hour delayed and thats before rush hours kicked off,fun fun fun0

They show the train as it runs, with adverts along the bottom, and no useful information included, but they do show replays of the landslide.guinnessaddick said:

You'd think after the first driver realised he couldn't see that one of the station staff would position themselves on the platform and signal/radio the drivers when it was clear to close the doors. Or is that far too simple?3

Yup!!randy andy said:You'd think after the first driver realised he couldn't see that one of the station staff would position themselves on the platform and signal/radio the drivers when it was clear to close the doors. Or is that far too simple?
Before they can sanction that idea though they need three very clean Managers in yellow vests standing around scratching their chins, you need a muddy lacky in orange scratching his balls and you need a Health and Safety Officer to reject the idea because (1) its too sensible and (2) They'd be within 2miles of the track so might fall if they're not careful (or just too stupid)0 -
Not enough whistles to go round every station!randy andy said:You'd think after the first driver realised he couldn't see that one of the station staff would position themselves on the platform and signal/radio the drivers when it was clear to close the doors. Or is that far too simple?
