Okay everyone, my apologies - I love him too now. Has anyone got access to the CCTV in his lounge ?

    perv! ;-)

  • PL54, some of us have had the pleasure of meeting chris Powell on a number of occasions both as a player and a manager. Those that have will know that not only was he extremely humble, down to earth and very friendly he also spoke about our club with love and passion. He loved us fans and cafc he may not have been a fan as a kid but during his spells here he grew to love us lots. What you need to realise is that it's not just how successful he was that people loved powell he was genuinely one of the nicest guys I've met in football, he deserves the adulation if just for that.

I think that puts the Powell debate to bed. I shook his hand once, but never had a conversation with him, but my wife did. She is not really into football, but met Chris at an education event.

I got the impression from her that he is a truly inspiring human being. That doesn't mean the guy is the next Fergie or Jesus, but he is genuinely someone to look up to.

So Scabby, I guess if you've seen that side of Powell it is hard not to jump to his defence when people slag him off, even if it is not about him personally, but his football tactics.

I think the fact that he came across as a down to earth bloke was an endearing feature uncommon in football at this level , as opposed to a former manager of ours that was so far up his own **** and treated people with contempt.

Now who could you possibly mean, MIA?

The Huddersfield fan looks a proper mug now Huddersfield have won two matches in a row. Can't even show his face on here, he's so embarrassed...

If true, that's even more embarrassing.

I had a quick look on the profile. Same Huddersfield fan?

Chris Powell should've held out for the Charlton job. He would've been brilliant down here.

10 league games in and 16 points for SCP more than impressive ,especially considering it was 1 point from his first 3 games , all the snipers have disappeared

Move on ... F*** off I'm in remission , took me years to get over Lord Curbishley leaving and I love SCP more !
  • 15 points from 7 games is impressive - well done Chris.
Grant Holt was a good signing.
  • I'm actually getting quite scared of hudders now.

    From Hudds board:

"After a few false dawns and no little effort on the part of all previous managers, DH has now got the manager to take us forward long term.

Our performance today was incredible, to a man. Organised, driven, creative, determination not to concede.

3 Brilliant partnerships at centre back, centre midfield and upfront.

A team that completely reflected the manager and the chairman. They can both be hugely proud as we all can be.

What a joy to watch today."

Unfortunately for us, he's likely to get better and better with experience.

Yep but if he can't manage under the constraints of Roland and FFP I don't want him anywhere near this club thank you very much
  • Will be interesting to see how Huddersfield continue to do this season but if come 46 games SCP has got them a finish above us, then like the Yann sale, it will look like another how many steps backwards do we take based on boardroom decisions before the long term success plans start.

Im willing to admit that i was one fan who thought it might have been for the best that SCP went as i walked away from the Sheffield United game but i regret that now, that was purely emotions talking, i was wrong, im sure he would have kept us up like Riga did.

I miss him here, i may like Bob and many of the new signings we have that possibly would not have signed under SCP but they can't replace watching our team managed by one of the games true nice guys who also happens to be one of us, so some fans can mock away but i don't care, i wish he was still here.

SCP always a club legend in my eyes and i will never forget the Carlisle game, only just second to the Play-off final in my Charlton memories.

  • Not a reflection on SCP's managership but had he stayed last season we would have gone down. He was not what the new ownership wanted and he knew it. Working under constraints he didn't want. It was right he went. The Sheff Utd game summed up the situation perfectly.

He will do well for Hudds and he has my 100% best wishes.

If I owned a football club I would want SCP working somewhere within the organisation.

    Yep. Got it.
Please dont keep on reminding me of that Sheff U game - i'm trying to erase it from my memory.

Possibly true, he prefered his own players but if i had a choice despite being pro the new ownership in many ways, i would rather watch us slowly build towards promotion under Chris, bringing in players he wanted then what we have now.

Im happy now too though but we have lost that something special we had of having the main man when it comes to on the pitch decisions being a club legend.

Im just wistful that we never got to see what Chris could have built at our club if he had got some actual backing from an owner in the Championship like he did in League 1.

The inability to work with RD is absolutely the point. Sad, but it is the point.

Well possibly but I don't have any confidence that we would have stayed up. Chris Powell looked a very beaten man at Sheff Utd and his team knew it as well.

Maybe, maybe not but he made a statement that day and put his trust in 'HIS players', who let him down and the rest is history. He was bold enough to succeed or fail by his decision, sadly he failed and no wonder he looked downtrodden after the weak surrender we offered that day.

The man was stitched right up by the two cowboys that season and is an old school type 'Manager' not a 'Coach', a Charlton legend to whom I shall always be indebted for a fantastic 2011/2012 season and giving us our club back after years of pain and hurt. Tell me to move on as much as you want, I ain't bothered...........Chrissy Powell. Chrissy Powell, Chrissy Powell.

ever considered it was cos they got outplayed and knocked out of a quarter final rather than just run out of ideas?

People who point to our fa cup quarter final and say it was a low point are an embarrassment.

I'm very pleased for Chris. He totally deserves it and he's one manager who I wouldn't feel too badly about if they did better than us this year. It would get me thinking "what if" but it was the right decision to let him go when he went. At the end I think he was a beaten man because of all the crap he had to put up with (not from this regime but from the previous lot).

    I'd say both regimes.
