Nobody has wished Powell bad in his new job. Perhaps some have been out of order and hope he doesn't do as well as Charlton do but the love-in for a former manager who got sacked when we were bottom of the table and facing relegation.....is just peculiar.Dave2l said:The pro Powell/against Powell division of charlton fans mirros Catholics and Protestants.

This. Go confront him in person scabby. I believe The Lord our saviour Reams has a way of tracking down where CL posters are seated. Maybe a cheeky prayer wouldn't go amiss?scabbyhorse said:

PL54, some of us have had the pleasure of meeting chris Powell on a number of occasions both as a player and a manager. Those that have will know that not only was he extremely humble, down to earth and very friendly he also spoke about our club with love and passion. He loved us fans and cafc he may not have been a fan as a kid but during his spells here he grew to love us lots. What you need to realise is that it's not just how successful he was that people loved powell he was genuinely one of the nicest guys I've met in football, he deserves the adulation if just for that.16
-
I think the fact that he came across as a down to earth bloke was an endearing feature uncommon in football at this level , as opposed to a former manager of ours that was so far up his own **** and treated people with contempt.1

I met him a couple of times too; a great guy and just as you described above. He used to play for us and went on to manage the team - sometimes well and at other times less well. I am not in love with him and will not follow his career like some (erstwhile) disciple. I won't be moving to Huddersfield, or wherever he ends up next, hanging around at the training ground, panting on his every result, getting cuddly every time he is on the tele or mentioned in the paper and I certainly won't be sending him a Christmas card as I imagine plenty on here are already planning !sadiejane1981 said:PL54, some of us have had the pleasure of meeting chris Powell on a number of occasions both as a player and a manager. I like Chris Powell, so I went to have a look at what the Terriers' supporters made of his appointment. Unfortunately my unbridled excitement at looking at another club's message board was severely tarnished when I found out that Charlton Life's own tenacious terrier, Mr Scabbyhorse, had found his way there several days before me, opened a user account and already started posting the same tedious rubbish on there that he posts on here.scabbyhorse said:How come you was over there too??

Imagine scabby horse and chris powell stuck in a lift together.
Would scabby even introduce himself as a charlton fan? Would he even acknowledge Chris powell as a 3 time ex player and then manager that got us promoted?
It upsets me just thinking about it....4 -
Seconded many, many times over. I would go further and say Chris was one of the nicest guys I've ever had the great good fortune to meet - in or out of football.sadiejane1981 said:PL54, some of us have had the pleasure of meeting chris Powell on a number of occasions both as a player and a manager. Scabbyhorse and PL54.
I understand what your attitude to Chris Powell is, and now that he is no longer our manager, your attitude doesn't bother me one jot. Lots of people on here though have a much more positive attitude towards Chris Powell, they actively want him to do well (just as a lot of us actively want JonJo to do well) and I really don't get why that winds you both up so much that you feel the need to keep having a go at other Charlton fans about it. I suppose it's a type of wind up, but feck me, it's tedious and repetitive.18 -
If anyone's obsessed it's PL54 and Scabbyhorse. You can't keep them off these threads about Chris Powell, reminding us all how they don't care about him, aren't following what he's doing and have pretty much totally forgotten about him.13
-
I imagine he'll do the respectable thing and say exactly what he says online to CP's face, just like Reams did.Dave2l said:Imagine scabby horse and chris powell stuck in a lift together.

By shaking his hand, having a half hour conversation with him and then asking to get his picture taken with him.7 -
I was fully behind CP while he was here and got a bit of stick on ITTV from a few people because of it (not that I give a fuck) but I do find the love in over a man in football, especially when he's no longer here, a bit much. I'd rather concentrate my attention on BP and this squad personally, people that can make a difference to our football club.1
-
Except surely the reason this thread exists and is still going is because of the Huddersfield mug (or Colin under an assumed name) who started it all.ValleyGary said:I was fully behind CP while he was here and got a bit of stick on ITTV from a few people because of it (not that I give a fuck) but I do find the love in over a man in football, especially when he's no longer here, a bit much. Not sure there would have been this much glee at Huddersfield's last two results if he hadn't come on here wanting Powell out after two games.

I'm sure beating Millwall and helping us into the top 6 would've been mentioned.LeaburnForEngland said:

Come on mate, you don't honestly believe the win against millwall and a resounding victory away at Wolves wouldn't have been made a song and dance out of regardless of LBTF's contributi?LeaburnForEngland said:

Hah yeah fair enough I'm sure it would have been mentioned - but not necessarily by so many and with so much interest. I'm a big Powell fan but I've been checking back on this thread more than I would have to see if LBTF has manned up and come back on here.ValleyGary said:

Having said that it all becomes a bit self perpetuating - someone posts something anti or pro Powell, PL54/Scabby or a SCP-fan replies and we go round, and around and around...1 -
But Gary, this thread, was started by LBTF who now ends up looking like the prize prat most of us thought he was. You can't be surprised let alone disappointed, if people can't resist returning to this thread, to hear what he has to say now. Precisely nothing, as it turns out.ValleyGary said:

Okay everyone, my apologies - I love him too now. Has anyone got access to the CCTV in his lounge ?0
