  • Just wondering here, LBTF - when you say 'Charlton' give him a role, you DO realise that you're 'talking' to an Internet messageboard, right? It's not actually the Charlton board of directors....

Powell is brilliant - your problem will be the fans, players and ownership.
  • In all honesty Powell has joined a shambles of a club, he has taken on something very difficult, these are not his players and there's not much he can do to change that. One of 2 things can happen if you keep him until the end of the season. A) you'll go down like a lead balloon, which was going to happen anyway so no loss really or B) Powell will try and motivate a crap team to Christmas pulling the occasional point out of the bag, spend some money in January and make his own team and keep you up, then be hailed a hero and called Sir. :-) either way I don't see that you have anything to lose.
  • LBTF has always seemed relatively level headed and is obviously disappointed with the start Powell has made after the work Lillis done.

To judge after 3 games is a bit silly but if Peeters had started his charlton career in the same way. We'd be fuming.

I stand by my comments at Powell the manager. He will take them down, but I hope not as he is a top bloke and as a player, a charlton legend

Still level headed Pal, just know we have f****d up with this appointment. We looked so good under the stewardship of our Caretakers then Powell gets hold of the Team and boy are we SHITE.

Got a season ticket but not going Saturday, can't stomach the utter tripe this muppet has us playing.
  • Come on LBTF 2 defeats in 900 games isn't that bad.... On the upside you have millwall next week and Powell's record against them is brilliant.

I don't actually blame Powell, I blame the f*****g idiots that employed him. Of all the Managers we could have had and we appoint this absolute idiot.

Yeah, 'cos you could have had Pellegrini, Mourinho or Guardiola. Or perhaps the bright light of Kirklees would have been enough to lure Sir Alex out of retirement. I know you're smarting after a bad defeat today, but please give things a chance to settle a bit before jumping to conclusions.

Caretakers tend to be caretakers for a reason, LBTF. They usually lack the qualities needed to succeed in the top job over an extended period, when the pressure is greater. Chris Powell may end up being the disappointment you think he is already, but he does have a decent track record overall and he might just surprise you. CP has his weaknesses, but so do almost any other manager you might be able to entice up to Udders. He isn't a muppet, he isn't an idiot, and he's a good football man. Take a breath, have a drink, show a bit of patience.
  • Huddersfield haven't been a shambles all season Sadie. When Lillis took over they started to turn a corner. They out played us with 10 men didn't they?

Maybe, just maybe, a few charlton fans over rated him.

I thought it would be interesting to see what he could do with someone else's squad considering what he done with parkys in his first year taking us from 5th to 13th. It's not looking good. Saying that, we all know what he can do with some money and time to build a squad. If he's in the job by January, it will be interesting to see what he can do if he gets money to spend.

Trust me, lump on Millwall, get your Summer holiday out of the bookies (I will). Nailed on away win and I will be on it (whilst giving my season ticket to a friend and going walking in the Yorkshire Dales instead). F**k em.

He can't beat Millwall, but I hope he does next week

I don't think it's overrating Powell to say he's not completely useless based on a league win and taking almost the exact same squad to 9th in the Championship the next season. I don't think Hudds had turned a corner just because they played well against us either; it was just one game.

Yes precisely, give him the January window and see what happens, but it's not our problem. Did we go onto wet spam forums and beg them to take pardew back?
