  • Probably rubbish but worth highlighting I think

    From the "not 606 forum"

    Worrying but posssibly BS

    "
Had a chat to a mate at the golf club yesterday who, via his company, is a significant club sponsor. He does not claim to be "in the know" or Jimenez's best mate or to have any special insight so this isn't one of those "I've heard from a good source so mark my words..." comments. However, the substance of it all is that he thinks we are in the brown stuff unless new investment is found. By that he means that there is a real fear within the powers that be that season ticket sales are going to be way down on current numbers and the recent spate of exiting loanees is simply to get the cash flow adjusted a bit. There is a very real threat of administration and if we find ourselves 15 points clear of relegation at any point soon then it could become a reality. For all our moans and groans on the playing front recently I was surprised to hear this. We are clearly under severe financial pressure as the numbers that are freely available via VOTV or banded about by those who profess to be "ITK" on other sites. But if my mate is right I'm surprised and concerned. Might all be piss and wind of course."

Sounds like we are like the majority of clubs in being potless.

If things were that bad would we not have cashed in on some of our best players in January?

Also, I can't see season ticket sales being much down, but maybe I'm over estimating our support.

Possibly, but maybe we just didn't get any offers. Not sure Solly is as coveted as we think he should be. Wiggins has effectively been out of the shop window injured. Not sure I believe the figures bandied about for Stephens. Is anyone else in the squad worth significant money? Doubt it.

Would be gutted if it happened but to be honest I find it hard to not see sense in what has been written. The main money man appears to have jumped ship, cut backs all round including the pitch, high earners being loaned out with cheaper journeymen/youngsters coming in and stories of £1 million a month being transferred into the club to keep us afloat.

Whilst some of the above can continue for a period of time I doubt the million a month could if of course its true?

Fuller/Haynes must be worth something. Same with Jackson.

High earners that arent performing or are surplus or are at end of contract? That allow for loans to come in. We then face having missed the boat in Jan when the Swindon thing fell through

It's always something on here. Just think; if only Huddersfield had looked sharper in front of goal we'd be balls deep in relegation and 'Powell out' threads right now. As it is it's back to the administration threads. I give it about 3 days and a Thatcher discussion will pop up

ahh, smart move. that's why we have been playing poorly. so we wont find ourselves 15 points ahead of relegation.

any team at our level that is potless has to be "near" administration------------its how near that is the question. My guess is that more than half of this division is close to admin.

Who ever owns this club will get next 2 f++k all if we go into admin.

Sometimes I wonder if it's not just best simply to buy a season ticket, turn up every two weeks or so at the Valley and see what happens on the pitch, rather than get the squitters at some non-attributable fuckwit 'in the know' who is saying that a) Powell will be executed b) Denis Unwise will be appointed manager c) we will be bought by a 'Middle Eastern consortium (how fucking vague is that one???) is going to buy the club.

When we were promoted the general view was that mid-table with (virtually) the existing squad would be an excellent achievement - and that's pretty well were we are. Now if we could transpose our home and away form I suspect that trhere would be nothing but acclaim for the team. The reality is that it is more important to win in front of 16k home fans than 1600 away fans (Oohaah please confirm the actual numbers:-))

Roll on Saturday because if we win we will be in 7th heaven and if we lose..................................................................................................

People become concerned because we don't want to end up in a pompey situation. I think it will happen more and more going forward and many clubs will have to radically cut their operating costs, and go into partnership with local authorities.

well a concern about a drop in season ticket renewals is probably right. Some might think I'm mad but don't think we have too many players of significant value ie no Zara type player and, in my opinion, if we had to sell we wouldn't raise a lot. In the meantime lumping in a million a month to keep us going isn't sustainable as no one currently involved can afford to do it. New investment is essential. So I wouldn't dismiss the above out of hand. Whether its imminent or not, who knows.
