Thing is I don't think we have.

We've got Just Sport who are agents for Nike and Umbro and have their own brand Avec.

Still, if it generates more money for the Club then all good.

Any job losses with the store being taken over as well?

    Good point.

Would have though that they would be TUPE'd over to the new employers

So the worst kept secret has finally been confirmed.

Still more interesting in who the shirt sponsor is. More bucks for SCP to spend on players
I was told at a meeting today at the Valley that the store staff will be TUPE'd over so spot on Henry

Sod Terry Naylor I knew before that but was sworn to secrecy and was told in the industry last November we were on the look out for a new supplier.
Now now Steve dont be like that!!!

it says Just Sport will take over the club store on behalf of nike, and the kits themselves will be made by nike. So they are nike kits.

Nike kits from a third party, nike are not directly making a bespoke kit for us

Check out Bradford and Palace online stores. Both use the same template. Training kit etc looks very similar so guessing we will get the same.

Can't do the quotey thingy on the iPhone but just wondering if Gretna Green Addicks (or anyone else for that matter) knows if Nike kits are produced in a significantly less ethical way than other kit makers ? That's a genuine question btw

Yes, Nike kits but not direct from Nike. Bit like asking Northstandsteve to supply a nike kit for your kids team (which he can do). Do you have Nike "on board" or do you have Winston Sports "on board"? Winston sports are an excellent local company BTW

  • Well, I'm chuffed to bits that we have Nike and I'll be buying quite a lot of Nike Charlton gear, but I won't be buying anything made by Avec or any other unknown brand.

Just out of interest, why would you only buy it if it has a Nike badge sewn on, rather than "Avec or some other unknown brand" ?

No disrespect but if you need to ask then I wouldn't be able to explain it to you. I'm sure that says more about me than you, but I prefer well known brands rather than unknown brands.

I'm happy as long as it has got the Charlton brand

I'd buy it no matter who makes it.

I'd buy the first team shirt, but it's the other stuff that I'd pass on - the training wear and the 'leisure wear'.

An fair do's I usually pass on that stuff but agree the Nike brand may make it more appetising than Joma or Macron.

    I'm quite exited now.

Dam Nike. I want all 25,000 that the club will hopefully sell hand made by a woman down the road not some major multinational.

Everyone whining on about Nike. I am guessing they also dont Buy from Prinark and many other stores that use "child labour." now excuse me whilst I hunt down the parents of the kid that does the paper round and inform them they are exploiting their son.

I was only asking how they are a Croydon club when they are based in Norwood, I wasn't sticking up for them at all.

I've been with Charlton for 40 years and think I'll stick round a bit longer.

I was at the Mets last year and got a really nice Nike hoodie (second only to my Dazzler Addicks hoodie in the collection). They had so much stuff at Citifield, the news that we might get a range like that, Avec notwithstanding, makes me very excited.

Im sure it will be a nice kit but disappointed i wont be getting any club merch for 4 years, never mind cant have everything.
Here in Indonesia, where Nike have c.67 out-source factories producing sports wear, the workers are routinely abused by management (often Korean).. I've written about this quite often, including today: http://jakartass.net/2012/05/let-them-eat-cake/ .

Most definitely. This is a more substantive link than my last one: http://jakartass.net/2012/05/may-day-mayday/
