Would Dijksteel fit in on the right hand side?
Think some have forgotten about him tbh.
passing was poor, couldn’t head the ball, his pace often got him out of trouble. Also now injury prone.
    This won’t happen!
That was 6 years ago! Players are capable of getting better, especially younger ones. Same with Famewo, they aren’t the same players that played for us in league 1, they are championship footballers which is what we need
Famewo may be useful but no thanks Anfernee
  • Dijksteel was linked heavily with Millwall in January but Boro had injuries at RB so didn't let him go.

Could be likely to go back in for him now.
  • The problem I see with Dijksteel is at his age and with his experience he’d command a big wage, but he’s not the attacking WB we need and he wouldn’t come here to be expensive cover for Ramsay.

Very different to Carey who’s younger and this will be his first “big” contract. I doubt he’s on more than Berry, Dijksteel might want a wage that makes him one of our highest earners. Not convinced he’s worth that vs other options out there.
  • Dijksteel has been a fairly regular starter for a Middlesbrough side that hasn't finished below 10th in the last 5 years. If his wages aren't stupid then he'd certainly improve the squad.

However i do get that we're probably more likely to want someone who is more suited to playing wing back rather than full back.
  • I'm not completely against Famewo coming in, although to be fair Jones could probably sign Yohan Thuram and I'd simply see method to his madness, and continue believing in him - In regards to Famewo though, I think Abbott could be a beneficial piece to the puzzle that'll help us get the max out of Akin.

Plus I dont think he'd be a guaranteed starter over Gillesphey, and whilst he might not be up to Championship standards, I feel he deserves an opportunity to prove that or not, rather than being simply disgarded immediately... Famewo as a result would provide decent competition, plus cover for Macca

That’s us out of any race then.
I really loathe these type of comments!
    Why?
  • Id take Galbraith over Small all day long
I'm not so sure. Different okayer to small and if we want to play the same system it's a risk. He's a RB that can cut inside and fill gaps in midfield, play as a passer in that CM space and arrive late in the box from central positions. We need width and that's why Small on the right made such a difference to us. Galbraith would not give us width.

When we had Ramsay at RWB he liked to come inside and we were much less effective.

  • Is famewo a left sided cb ? If so I could see the sense in this - we don’t have a powerful mobile centre back as such and although gillesphey has turned into franz Beckenbauer, I can see him getting run ragged at times
  • I think people should remember that we still have an option in Nathan Asiimwe for that right sided role. I also think that you will see more of Dixon and hopefully Leaburn this season. Because we set up in a certain way last season, doesn't necessarily mean that will be the case for the coming season, a different set of dynamics for different challenges.

I think a true RWB is now a priority on the shopping list. I suspect the club have known Small was leaving for some time, possibly months so I have no doubt Jones has a couple of targets.
  • Thought Famewo looked quite decent when he was here before and has obviously kicked on a bit to be a championship regular. If he does rejoin perhaps Gilllesphey can give him some pointers on hitting a long diagonal that doesn’t go straight into touch!

I thought I read some time ago that our owners don’t really have that much money, or their money is tied up in some way and not available to chuck around.
Thats why a no transfer fee signing, and getting an earner off the books makes sense.
I wonder if there is extra wages attached to the Nathan Jones extended contract, or if the extension was the attractive bit for Jones, not a wage increase.
You should read the "so who are our new owners" thread. Especially from about page 13, when we talk about the 2 new "directors", and why the companies are set up in Delaware. It's clear the money men are insulating themselves from their other businesses.

I'm not saying they'll be throwing Birmingham style money around, but we may all be surprised by our budget...

    Famewo over Dijksteel?!

    Other way around

Probably not as good as Small on the attacking front but quite like Grimmer at Wycombe as a right-back/wing back. Got a bit of attitude about him, is experienced and could see him playing at Championship level.

Didn’t watch him that closely but isn’t he more of a pure defender? We need width, pace and attacking threat at RWB.

  • Mitch Pinnock signs for Bromley, great signing for them.
Surprising he'd reject a contract at L1 Northampton to go to L2 Bromley

He's from this way, went to school in Dartford, so if our experience is to go by, his wife will have him moving back up north this time next year!

Famewo is an actual rumour isn’t it? The Dijksteel talk just came from someone saying they’d like him back. Is there anything more substantial on Dijksteel than that?

Goodman looked good in their two games against Walsall. Depends whether NJ wants a more experienced player in.
  • Goodwin, Neufville, Browne and Lewis were AFCW's standout players over the course of the season for me.

If we stayed in League 1 I would have been clamouring for us to sign as many of them as possible.

The issue now would be can any of them jump from looking good in League 2 to being good enough for the Championship? Might be a bit of a stretch
  • Would anyone want aribo or doughty back?! Or too expensive now

Interesting clip with Methven talking about our transfer process, our academy and Will Abbott’s impact. https://youtu.be/JbZe27LfKCM?si=4c1BW7RD-qugJPWI
That thumbnail has my video in it?
  • I would urge caution on this. Another article here - https://sportviewers.com/2025/06/07/%F0%9F%9A%A8-shock-rise-charlton-athletic-tipped-for-automatic-promotion-in-supercomputer-update/

Good luck navigating the site to read it.
You’d think a site with a Time Machine - according to them we’ve already signed two premier league starlets on loan and a “midfield maestro” from Ligue 1 in France - would be able to be able to sort out a readable page.

Happy with the predicted 2nd place finish though!! 😉

Definitely feel like Carey was announced to soften the Thierry Small blow, wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more in the pipeline
Most definitely, as 'he will join when his contract expires' at Blackpool.
    Rubbish ….
You are obviously the ITK person in existence Colin, first with the news Sonny has changed his mind and isn't joining now.
Fact is do you honestly think we got control over PNE media team and told them when to announce Small ….
Clubs tend to announce deals at exactly the same time, so yes it was likely agreed between us and Preston.
Or it could that it was the first day Small was back from his holiday …. cause it seems from people in the club that he told the club he was going day after the final ..
