Agreed it's a non starter but I'm not convinced we will have made much of an enquiry beyond asking his agent if he's open to movingShootersHillGuru said:I think we need to forget DKD. We can be sure that Cawleys comment about Keillor-Dunn not wanting to come south is definitive. I’d guess we made an approach and were rebuffed on that very issue as well as the initial asking price.1 -

Leaburn, Godden, Mbick, Kanu, Olaofe can probably play there as well and TC.
say Kanu and Mbick go out on loan
i can see us signing a loan player maybe but certainly not splashing the cash
also I would rather that money was spent on a RWB
Striker and AM by far the priorities for me. All of Ramsay, Burke (at a push), JRC and Apter can play in the RWB role as Jones wants it. There isn't a striker we have yet that I'm certain will be able to lead the line for us consistently, even though I rate them as players and think they have a role to play.4 -
No worries. Actually, someone used to post here as Happy valley. Note the capitalisation.wolfgang said:Happy Valley said:

He used to post on here as Happy Valley then decided to change his persona to make it more edgy. But I am. I used your moniker because I thought you had left us. I never notice your posts these days. They are sorely missed. I could sleep well on Friday nights knowing that we would win 4-0 the next day, home or away.
My apologies.0 -
Ferran Torres’ nickname is The Shark - we will not be signing him!!0

It won't be 5 million, they're on planet bizzaro claiming that. No club will pay that for a bloke who turns 28 in a few months and hasn't succeeded above League 1 unless they've got cash to burn.fenaddick said:
Assuming you are talking about DKD I think £5m is probably out of our price range. I'm guessing Apter will be our highest fee paid this summerBraziliance said:
That's why if we do buy a striker, it's important it is one that can play multiple positions rather than just be restricted to one role (like Gassan).ElliotCAFC said:
I'd say we're done spending big money on strikers. Reportedly £1.5m on Olaofe, then Gooden and Leaburn, and one of Mbick or Kanu. I don't see us spending any more millions on a striker that isn't guaranteed to start.ShootersHillGuru said:
Strikers are by definition expensive so I’m expecting the striker signing to be perhaps the most expensive fee.ElliotCAFC said:So with around £7m spend so far (no idea if that's accurate, just what I've read here) and our most expensive signing coming in yesterday, do we think that's it in terms of large investments?
The squad is getting quite big, although outgoings are expected, and there are a couple of areas that still require a starter or back-up. Most notably, we have no idea who will play RWB, it seems to be a toss up between JRC or Apter - both of which are just as likely to play completely different positions. I wouldn't be surprised to see one more investment in that area, someone akin to Thierry Small.
TC, Tanto, Leaburn, all 3 of these can drift out wide and allow us to play fluid, even Godden can do a bit more than play as a traditional 9.
Whoever we spend on should be someone who can rotate and be versatile, there is someone perfect for that, he is affordable and his name has been mentioned about a thousand times. I am still hoping it is him.
I think he will go later on in the window and it will be for a more realistic valuation of 3 million or so.
They barely have any assets Barnsley, and as much as they have minted owners, they can't afford their assets for their contracts to run down consistently, I expect Luca Connell to be sold as well at some point.
I know people talk about players being settled etc but money talks. If a club come in and fork out a reasonable fee and offer him decent wages he will leave, they're all settled until a bigger pay day comes along.
The only time that applies imo is when it's about players moving within the same league or moving country completely.
It's like when we got Lyle over Sunderland. He moved cause of the logistics, had Sunderland been a Champ side and offered more money we would never have gotten him.
I'm not saying it will be us, but I will be very surprised if Barnsley keep him.5 -
He'll got blotted out by some magic markers in the ChampionshipThe Red Robin said:Hearing that Knibbs should ink a deal soon.1 -
I agree he'll go but given Middlesborough have reportedly been sniffing around and I'm guessing Wrexham could offer more wages than us if he was to move away I think it's unlikely he comes hereBraziliance said:

This clearly leads us to Amity Shamende from Zambia, recognised for creativity and control as an attacking midfielder. Born on 4 August 1993 and standing 5ft 9 tall, Shamende combines technical skill with a sharp footballing mind. Currently playing for Green Eagles in the Zambian Premier League, Shamende has also represented the Zambia national team, contributing key goals and assists in international fixtures. Known for vision, agility, and an ability to dictate play, Shamende remains an influential figure at both club and national level, demonstrating consistency, leadership, and a strong work ethic throughout a well-established and respected football career.
I hope there is truth in this rumour. She sounds great.

Not sure on Connell, I thought he was class 3 seasons ago, but my Barnsley mate wants them to sell him and he's got a pretty good idea on football. Apparently he got sick/injured and hasn't been the same since and has stagnated a bit.MarcusH26 said:

Phillips would be a welcome addition but DKD is the one you'd want. He's probably the best player in League 1. I am really surprised Wrexham haven't already bought him with how they do their business and with their wealth.0 -

Yeah I just looked at his numbers and that's quite the drop off.... One of those players that's always looked like he's got a touch of class but if he was fit regularly he wouldn't still be in L1.Braziliance said:

If we’re looking to bring in another striker as suggested by Cawley looks like plan A is 352 with Apter playing the small role. Leaves Olaofe, Godden Leaburn, TC and a new striker which gives us 5 players for 2 positions which gives us plenty of cover and different striker profiles. That way you can get Kanu and Mbick out on loan which they need that game time. Ahadme if we can’t find a club silly enough to take him off us on his big wages can always put a shift in behind the bar on match daysBailey said:We do have a lot of strikers on our books now and yes, bringing in a goal machine, if possible, shouldn't be sniffed at, but I'm wondering if Nathan Jones thinks he's already well served in that department. I wouldn't knock a forward line of Campbell, Godden and Apter, that would leave Leaburn, Oloafe, Kanu and Mbick, looking on. I also think Nathan Jones has his ideas of what potentially will work, everyone, including myself, doubted the wisdom of playing Tyreece Campbell in a forward role, second half of the season it worked.1 -
Yeah agree and he hasn’t set Hull on fire either. The other side of the coin is that Hull are skint and he’s still young and might come good but I’ll be a bit disappointed if it’s him we pin our hopes on.Athletico Charlton said:Mason Burtsow would be a huge disappointment. Burstow would be a meh signing if we were still in League 1 let alone the Championship. If he's a genuine option I'd rather keep DK around.

Not sure Jones really fancies DK. Mbick has gotten ahead of him as the appearance in the playoff final highlighted. I’d say Burstow would be ahead of both just because of his higher level game time but it would be an odd signing in my opinion.MarcusH26 said:Burstow would be a meh signing if we were still in League 1 let alone the Championship. He could do the Miles role if he gets injured again, would be some power up front.0

I've also heard Knobs is close to signing, he has real toilet humour experience. The Red Robin said:Hearing that Knibbs should ink a deal soon.0 -
I think DK needs a year just playing every week somewhere, ideally that's Jacko and AFCW. Good finisher but I still think he's a bit lightweight. Can see why NJ likes the profile of Mbick more.ShootersHillGuru said:

Won’t happen unless Mbick leaves on loan somewhere 😉The Red Robin said:Hearing that Knibbs should ink a deal soon.9 -
Not sure if it's been mentioned but it was reported yesterday that Josh Windass has terminated his contract.
His quality to score and create along with his experience would be perfect in the CAM role. Think he got into double figures last season.
Won't be cheap in wages and he's 31 now but proven Championship experience and quality could make all the difference.0
