One Luton fan’s reaction on social media… (also a Charlton lad asking if he’s good enough for a team chasing automatic promotion lol)

Others saying we’ve had their pants down at £1m. Another saying he should be about £3 or 4 million…

Read it more Luton have had their pants pulled down - Kaminski and Morris leaving for less than £3mill etc.
Yep that’s what happens when you drop out of the top two leagues. I feel for Luton and hope they bounce back.
But f me we’ve had some dark days the last two decades. It’s our turn.

Can't believe we are spending a million quid on a keeper... so good not to be having to try to get excited about signing cast-offs
DEANO !!! :D If this bloke is half as good we'll be getting a decent keeper, memory can play tricks these days but I don't think Deano came for many crosses

We are in the championship if Charlton came in for me with a nice offer and Jones smoking my ass with inventive words and promises id take it it's good wages and better grade football can leave next season for a better offer if he proves himself worthy.

  • Asked my Luton mate for his thoughts, as I’ve done every summer for the last few years…

    Never comes off his line?

Oh Lord, not another Craig MacGillivray.
    More like a Dean Kiely!!

£1m seems expensive for a 32 year old, although granted he played 30+ games in the premier league

Sure hope this keeper eventually gets his pen out and signs the bloody contract soon, as an awful lot of people seem to expect this to happen, but there is an awful lot of feet dragging going on somewhere...

Or it's already done and they're simply not announcing on Sunday afternoon... When they're all pissed at bbq's

Cawley pretty much confirmed it’s done on his sub.

I mean it only came to general attention a day or two ago and has gained a bit more traction over the last 24 hours or so.... and it's a Sunday so you don't really get much (if anything) announced normally anyway.

I don't see it's actually dragged/dragging on much at all beyond the usual time frames of such things. If nothing has been done this time next week I will be very surprised.

On FB, Luton fans definitely seem to think we are getting a great deal.

Many moons ago Luton had our pants down when they took Paul Waish and Paul Elliott. Would be nice to get our own back.
I was thinking the same earlier.

Could see Jonjo in an experienced head role , which I think we do need a couple of but I fear even with the lure of returning to us , I don't think his wages are going to be within what we want to pay.

    Hull feels more likely

Shelvey would only come here if he's squirreled away most of his wages over the years and feels like playing football almost for free.

Looks like one of those X accounts that post made up rumours.

I also don’t see how he’d fit NJs requirements for midfielders - hasn’t he lost any pace he had? NJ wants midfielders to battle, intercept, win second balls etc over being ball players.

Would be interesting to see how we’d use him if it somehow did happen though.

I know he used to have his Lpool wages paid into his current account

No from me. Could only feel he will be collecting a wage and not really giving a toss.

Give me a signing with something to prove any day of the week.
  • Looked at Dean Keily's carreer on Wiki, he joined us as a 29year old and left when he was 36. So Kaminski, as a 32 year old is in the middle of this range. He sounds a similar style keeper, great shot stopper, doesn't come for crosses (info from a Luton mate). Mannion's real strength is dominating the box. Look at the playoff final, he snuffed out Orient's attacking threat, by coming out and claiming the ball. The question is, in the Championship, the crosses will be more accurate and maybe, the style of goalkeeping changes.
I must admit that I like a keeper to do both, but maybe, the skill sets are different.
Non of our goalkeepers, are grat penalty savers, and maybe that makes the difference. Having Kaminski as No 1 and Mannion as No 2 appears to be a good combination.

Are these the same Luton fans who told us how good Allan Campbell was and that he’d slide tackle his own granny to win the ball.

Then turned out my granny could do him for speed and she’s been dead for 12 years!!

Shelvey would be another Ben Watson. He's finished.
