Endless passing around and maintaining possession at all costs. Limited forward passes and even fewer shots. Boring.

But I don't understand why people can't just admit it is often a difficult watch, watching them make endless passes that go nowhere for ages without an attempt to have an effort on goal.1 -

The Nations League was a good idea to replace the dreadful, meaningless friendlies. However, World Cup and Euros have now been expanded so much that there's no jeopardy in the qualifiers for the major nations in Europe. If we underperform away to Serbia, we might only get a draw there. Other than that, we'll win all our games, but it'll be incredibly dull, primarily because all our opponents will play to keep the score down. The 8 highest ranked sides should qualify automatically, and play an enhanced Nations League instead of qualifying. The remainder can play a qualifying tournament where the majority of games aren't a foregone conclusion.
