Always been weirdly fascinated by new build stadiums & stadium renovations, whether it’s for football or any other sport. Thought it would be worth a thread to follow new stadiums as they pop up.

Everton’s new stadium opened earlier today for a test event between their U18s and Wigan U18s.

    I'd love the first league match there to be in the Championship. Preferably against us. Sadly their form has picked up recently so it's looking unlikely.

    I had been reading multiple articles about how incredible the stadium looks, but from those photos, it looks pretty standard. 

    From the first photo, if your seat is there, you can't even see the screen properly.

    I would I would hope they have left room / space for the Leitch lattice work to be incorporated retrospectively somewhere in the stadium.

    ”There are nods to the past everywhere. The old railroad tracks and Grade II-listed Victorian hydraulic tower have been painstakingly restored. The Latticework design by renowned Scottish architect Archibald Leitch, still present on two of the four stands at Goodison Park, is incorporated into the brickwork.”

    From what I saw of it from the outside, the new Everton stadium looked pretty cool though the general area is pretty grim (unavoidable in Liverpool, one suspects) and Goodison is a total dump, so definitely an upgrade. Will take a while to develop a "soul" like all new stadia

    This is an interesting move though I don't understand it as Paris FC's home tickets are already free in their current, smaller stadium.



    I suppose they are more so aiming at the next generation of fans.

    I guess they're hoping now they're owned by Red Bull and France's richest man that they'll start to draw crowds.

    Haven't even bothered etching their name or anything into the seats. Very generic. 
    Inside, yes it looks very "practical", but outside is a different story.

    Looking at that picture above, the thing I don't understand is how on earth are the police intending to stop the local scallies pushing the away supporters into the surrounding water, particularly when the likes of Man Utd turn up. And I'm being serious.

    If you're an away supporter, might be best to learn how to swim before visiting! :-)

    Best guess is that the away end will be as far from the water as possible and that fans will be somewhat funneled

    That’s just the final portion of the roof. If you look at the one posted from outside the stadium you can see that’s the smaller “slatted” section at the front.

    From the outside the stadium looks stunning, but it really is a shithole of an area and needs a lot of development to get it anything like that model. I’m sure there are ways over the dual carriageway, although they aren’t obvious from the model & I can’t imagine sticking around too long outside, admiring the Mersey views, on a cold Tuesday night in December 🥶

    That said, hopefully we get a chance to play there in the Premiership before I get my pension!!

    It looks very good as modern stadiums go, saw thar game on Evertons stream last night.
    Wondered house easy it will be to get in and out of with 50,000+ there.
    I read it has cost £750,000,000 to build.

    with MK levels of support, yes but with the amount of support they get probably not.

    Everton were always going to move out of Goodison (so very generic is all they have).

    From what I've read, the new Everton stadium is designed with atmosphere in mind. All the stands are as close to the pitch as allowed, the roof is designed to magnify any sound and the home end has the steepest permissible raking so all the fans are as close to the action as possible.

    Also, looking at the photos from last nights test event, from the prominence of hand rails it looks like that whole home end is safe standing:

    You can walk along the Mersey to get there, or use a nearby Merseyrail station . That road to the right isn't a major one, you can cross it easily.

    There were overcrowding problems at the Merseyrail station yesterday apparently and that was 1/5th of the capacity. Hopefully there will be more trains or something on matchdays to help

    The station isn't really fit for purpose IMO, unlike Kirkland. I would walk there via local watering holes instead.

    The area is going to see a lot of redevelopment.

    Everton’s ground looks a bit bland inside.
    But I’d pretty happy if a move to a new Valley on the Thames looked like this from the outside.
