Remaining away games

9 left for the regular season. 3 have already sold out the away allocation (Brum, Orient and presumably Crawley); 4 will probably sell out (Peterborough, Cambridge, Wycombe and presumably Wrexham); that leaves Stockport and Mansfield that may, or may not sell out but if we are challenging still then they no doubt will.

Not bad for a team that just over a couple of months ago was getting very very hard to watch.

just need to start filling the Valley as well…

  • Stockport will sell out. Smaller allocation, direct train, and on the doorstep of a decent night out

Not sure how many tickets. But I can’t believe Mansfield will sell out ?

Ground capacity is 9186; away stand can accommodate 1910

Looks like its more or less full for home games

  • 3 new or relatively unfamiliar grounds for most people too (Stockport, Wrexham and Mansfield). Peterborough and Wycombe are both over familiar in recent seasons, but convenient.
  • Mansfield is a Tuesday night

  • just need to start filling the Valley as well…

Unlikely, even in our last L1 promotion season we were barely getting over 12-13k at home. We even won our last 6 home games of the season, and only averaged 12K for those.
  • Mansfield is a Tuesday night
time for the club to give some thought to organising transport to help those that would go ?

Regardless, unfortunately there's just a ceiling to the amount of people we can attract to a L1 game at Charlton. Arguably we were in a better position in 18/19 to get more people in because we hadn't just endured several years of mediocre L1 seasons.

You mean like coaches which they run to all league games?
Yes, but perhaps ones that are priced to get more fans to make the trek up there so that each coach only has to have say no more that two pick up points; maybe look to have coaches from areas once served by VE in the PL days but long since neglected like Hampshire and Surrey. Start sounding out fans early enough to see if there are areas/pick up points that could fill a coach for this match.

Yes Peterborough is not unfamiliar to me as we live there lol. About time we beat them too.

Never big numbers on those routes, even in the PL. I do agree that the fare and number of pick-ups, which are related, are a big disincentive on the more established routes.

At 12:30 in the afternoon (and on the tele) has that going against it.

Are you suggesting we could take 1900 on a Tuesday night.
  • Remaining away midweek games (Subject to change)

    Crawley 11th March
    Manfield 1st April
    Wycombe 21st April

How many do we sell out?

We could take 1,700 fans to Wycombe on a Easter Monday. Why not?

Fair Enough (didn't look at it right).

    No excuses then.

Too true mate but i had a Spurs fan sitting on my right and a Chelsea one sitting on my left.
  • Unfortunately this is the modern world (as sang by the Jam)
The good old days of all Saturday games at 3 knowing you could even get on a train(away games) are long gone
For all those ( me included) about this poxy league - imagine what it would be like getting back to the Prem😀
  • We have 19 games left to play this season and 8 of them are not 3pm on a Saturday.
Possibly 9 if the last round of games get moved.
It does appear more games than ever are being played at different times.

It's just how we are as a club. I've met more people in my life who had Charlton season tickets outside that weren't Charlton fans than were since we have been out of the prem..if that makes sense.

Harsh reality is, we had a lot of people watch us to see top flight footie.

Roland as an owner wasn't the reason for poor attendances, it's just the football not being good, always been the way.

If we got back to the Premier League in this day and age, we would sell out every week, fairly confident about that. Or at least close to sell out.

I can't see our attendances being that much better in the championship.

Which is why I never thought the stadium expansion plans to 40k were remotely sensible, as that's way above the actual size of our true fanbase.

In London, a PL club will attract lots of casual fans. Yes they'll "like" Charlton, but if Brentford or Fulham are in the PL, they'll like them as well.
