Is it just me or was that a shambles or what? The names were still scrolling through as the ref was about to kick off. Glad a fair few fans kept on clapping to the end but thought it was a bit disrespectful to be honest.
Credit to the Reading fans though who it appeared joined in the clapping to a man and there was certainly no singing or shouting.

It was fine until the ref blew up too early.
I thought the highlighting of Charlie Wright upfront was done well and it all would have been good if the ref hadn't been in such a hurry.
Both the Reading and the home fans let the ref know he was doing something wrong. Didn't stop him though he should have been aware that the names were on the board.
RIP Barry. Well done @Henry Irving and James Bell. 0/10 for the ref. Watching on Charlton TV I couldnt understand why it seemed such a mess. The camera operator tried their best by staying with the big screen as long as possible after that idiot had blown his whistle.

Was pleased to see they had a separate scrolling list of names in the bottom right corner on Charlton TV - turned out to be a decent bit of foresight from whoever made that decision.
The club got it correct with Charlie Wright and the presentation of the names.
The club can't be blamed that the ref was as incompetent at that as he was in the next 90 minutes
Unless the ref hadn’t properly been briefed before hand? Who knows, but I suspect when he blew his whistle he’d only seen the static Charlie Wright image ans not then move onto the rolling names.
whatever the reason it was a clumsy and disappointing outcome. I stayed clapping and glad others did to

You’d have thought the Club would have told the ref beforehand how long it would take for all the names to scroll past. Maybe they did and he a) ignored it or b) the EFL have a set time that these type of things should take and the ref can’t/won’t go against that.
Either way it was disappointing the way it panned out.
Geoffrey George Bates is a name on the first column in the spread in the programme. He seems to have been a top bloke. He grew up in south east London, but, by 1969 he had joined the police in the West Country, spending 44 years in the force. One of his colleagues, Neil Stanlake told the local newspaper a great story about him. You can just picture someone from SE London encountering - and handling - a West Country criminal like this, when the two of them spotted shoplifters in a local store...
"Geoff grabbed a banana and held it to the back of one of the thieves shouting 'armed police'. The thief - who was quick to give himself up - later told the judge in court that he thought using a weapon to catch shoplifters was a bit over the top!"
Hi everyone, It’s a miracle! After being told that Barry couldn’t be included in the memorial video, I received an email from a fantastic guy called James Bell at Charlton telling me that they have managed to include Barry’s name after all. I am so grateful to James and Charlton for going above and beyond to help our family. It means so much to us and when I am able to get a copy of the video, it will be a permanent reminder of the occasion. Thanks to everyone, Pete.

I think the memorial etc should have been at 2.50 not 2.58 so then no rushing. It was a professional football match which should kick off at 3pm.club started memorial too near kick off

At 2:50pm there’s only about 500 people in the stands and no players on the pitch.

No, that would miss the whole point.
This memorial and any memorial should be when as many fans as possible and all the players and officials are present ie just before KO.
Shunting it to 2.50 would be even more disrespectful than the Kevin Nolan tribute.
There was nothing wrong with the tribute other than the ref blew too early.
Fantastic! Thank you for taking the photo. At least I can copy it, in case there’s any issues with the video, Pete 👍
If there are are issues with the club video which I doubt there will be, I took a video and can either post here or send direct. It won't be as good as the clubs, so let's wait and see.

Presumably the club had spoken to the ref? Seems utterly ludicrous what happened - not a difficult thing to organise the timing.
I do question the priorities of some within the club following the mess made of the Kevin Nolan tribute.
Regardless of whose fault it was I felt very disappointed yesterday and I'm sure I'm not alone.

He emailed me to say the two late names had been added to the screen.
Very pleased that something in 2005 is still going and has become part of the fabric of the club.

very poor from the referee.
That’s great chippy. Forgot to do it for my dad last year 😢

Does “I thought” actually mean “I made up” in some weird attempt to blame the bastard capitalists for fucking up Charlton’s remembrance event.
As on another thread just now, you weave your politics into everything, however inappropriate.
Last nights snow = white supremacy rearing its head.
