Me Whaaaat !!!!! Barman. yes there's a shortage & we sold our last pint on Friday. There's plenty in Ireland but they're not shipping it over. CharltonBob goes home  :(

  • Gen Z are drinking it all.
  • What pub? Been much talk of a shortage over last few weeks but none of the (many!) places I’ve visited have been impacted
  • Been well documented this. Personally not had any issues over the last few weeks. The guiness game in England has really upped of late thanks to what places like the Devonshire are doing. Also gen zedders (as raith says) and women are getting into which is great to see. As I understand it, it’s not an issue with the ingredients but with the kegs. Apparently no such issue with cans but that hasn’t stopped the wallies from panic buying it 😂
  • The one round the corner from me was into the last few pints Thursday without knowing when it would get any more.
    The power of Kim Kardashian!

  • Sainsbury's Crayford was completely out of Guinness this morning.
  • Can you take the “n” out of “No” and give it to “Guiness”?

O Guinness is better than No Guiness.
  • We've got 3 kegs at work but are closed for the next 4 days
  • Crown in Chislehurst ran out of it this evening
  • I’m here, it’s ok.

Plenty of Guinness in Northampton on Saturday, the bar at Euston train station didn’t have any.

  • I was told yesterday Guinness are aiming for it to become a premium/limited edition beer and will dictate which pubs sell it

Thought it was a non story and nonsense but reading above looks like no smoke without fire

Nah ain’t buying that. Diageo will be committing hari kari. They are upscaling their production of 0.0 guiness as they werent anticipating the demand. Expect they’ll do summink similar with guiness. Maybe brew it in emerging markets or similar.

Not a great lover of black beer, but i must say my first ever pint of Guinness was in the Temples bar in Dublin a couple of years ago, and the second in the Guinness museum there. Must say they were lovely pints.
  • My son had 2 pints of said liquid refreshment last night in the 'Spoons in Bromley.

I think it's disgusting personally so I stuck to David Beckham's favourite tipple....Stella.

Of course, because the way to make more money is to sell a lot less.

Corrected humble apologies, I don't know how people realised what I was talking about. A spelling mistake on CL whatever next ?  :(
  • £3.67 in the Greenwich Spoons this afternoon.
  • Find it hard not to think of this as one almighty orchestrated PR coup by Diageo.

Does it still not have a sign?
  • Local supermarkets all emptied of it.  Just had a pint of it in my local and tbh, I don't think it was as good as normal. Back home now on the Abbott.
  • Good should be banned from pubs, especially on football days when there are big queues, takes far too long to pour!!
  • No shortage in Lewisham tonight

    It's simply demand outstripping supply.

To suppose it's deliberate to drive positive PR / social media is, I'm afraid, nonsense.

No company with the ability to sell scale volume (as Diageo has) would willingly reduce supply in the hope that it drives scarcity and PR.

Diageo will be having nightmares about this - they are leaving money on the table, and no listed company does that willingly.

ps if there is now a shortage of cans in supermarkets (as I'm reading above), then the retailers (as well as the pub chains) will be giving Diageo hell - no supermarket accepts suppliers short delivering them and leaving them with empty shelves and lost revenue and margin.

Asda, Tesco et al (if affected) will be going after Diageo for ££'s, as well as potentially planning on giving their space to other suppliers, impacting future distribution and rate of sale (or at least that will certainly be the threat).

Would have thought he’d have been too busy for all that given the time of year.
