M mian bowling, anyone know of him?
Another triallist and our tenth bowling option - Mamma Mia via the ABBA programme but played previously club cricket for Old Waterloovians. He has had two quick hits this morning in what turned out to be quite a long and eventful career.

A 2nd XI somewhat lacking balance were 254 all out against Notts today.

Both openers Ekansh Singh and Ben Dawkins were out for a duck but then followed fifties from Jaydn (65) and Benjamin (54). Corey Flintoff (9) doesn't look a number 5 any more than Parkinson is a 6 (3 off 43). Young all rounder Oliver Curtiss (3) and triallist, Sebastian Allison (1), a seamer, came and went but then Garrett (43*), Kashif Ali (54) and another triallist seamer, Pip Jackson (19), took the score from 141-8 to 254 all out.

No lack of bowling options though - seven seamers and two spinners plus two keepers just in case they want to switch to allow each other to have a bowl.

Not sure that Freddie and Keysey watching (well they were yesterday so one assumes that they might be doing so today too) Corey take 31 balls to get off the mark will be fully appreciative of him trying to build an innings - the former was a basher and the latter is responsible for bringing in the man that brought us Bazball.

Kent 2s are currently 150-7 for a lead of 77. Kashif Ali retired on 22 but I'd like to think that was to prepare for tomorrow's first team game starting tomorrow. It is a bit of a concern that a squad hasn't been announced as yet as because, when that happens, it's usually because one or two players are having fitness tests - the obvious pick would be the 13 from the last match plus Kashif.

Oh dear! Garrett came on first change and had to stop bowling after one ball.
And hasn't bowled this morning. As soon as we sign bowlers they turn into Chuks Aneke.
We are cursed I tell thee!

I cannot believe this is bad luck (bar the broken arm type injuries).  I can believe we can’t afford a high end physio/ medical team .

No Dudgeon. He sustained an injury in training yesterday that is currently being assessed. Kashif Ali comes in for him as the only change.

  • Wow, dudgeon now injured, we can’t catch a break. Seen some of Kashif Ali and can’t say I have been too impressed

Great few balls from Gilchrist. Nips the ball away but then brings one back to bowl Fernandes through the tunnel that had been left between bat and pad.

    11-1

Middlesex are without Sam Robson and also their overseas, Dan Patterson, has failed to arrive from SA.

As someone who has known the lad since he was 8 and who was his first team manager some two years later, I can safely say that Jas has bowled the best over in professional cricket that I have seen him bowl. Without one ounce of luck but great to see nevertheless and hope that this becomes his breakthrough season.

    89-3 (29) at lunch

Honours even but it's safe to say that the ball has been on top with more play and misses in this session than you see in some matches over the course of four days. A proper cricket session nevertheless.

I would like to go on record that I said this knowing it would backfire and prove me wrong

We won't know how good this track really is until Middlesex get to bowl but, in the main, we've been right on the money.
