‘Tired of stuffed turkey at Xmas? Try the alternative by visiting SE7 on the 26th and 29th to witness robins getting stuffed. Also tune in to the post match interviews to replace the traditional jokes in your crackers’
I do have a genuine dilemma this Christmas. I've 5 friends coming from Canada for the Holiday, and a couple have been to Charlton before. They've told me they want to go to a game whilst here, and as a season ticket holder, the obvious is to bring them to a game on the 29th or the 4th when they are still here. They would feel absolutely fooled with some of this advertising....
However, we live in Bromley, and they've started mentioning about going to Bromley, I want them to enjoy their time at the football, and honestly, I wonder whether the "product" there would be better for them...
What would you do?
(They've also mentioned Chelsea, but doubt they'd be able to get tickets there)
15% win rate in December for the last 10 years....

I wouldn't go to Bromley. I have lived there my whole life and had a soft spot for them but with recent experiences that has disappeared. Plus the football is L2 so shit anyway.

Bromley would be easier, apparantly they have a very good set up there for pre-match refreshments, you still have lots of standing there if you want to enjoy standing on the terraces again.
I suppose they could go down the "Nathan Jones" marketing route:
Go absolutely mental on your doorstep, shouting and bawling at you to go to the two games.
You do as you're told, rock up to the first game and sit through 90+ minutes of tedium.
When you arrive for the second game you find that you've been moved to a completely unfamiliar period of the ground or maybe refused access completely.

Definitive no brainer really, but if you do go to Charlton make sure it's their decision. Make sure they might only see some decent football from Wycombe, or Reading so keeping expectation super low and with no responsibility on your part.
Or you could do one then the other for compare and contrast value?
At the end of the day someone is only doing what they're told to try and drum up a bit of interest.
But, fuck me, getting the kick off time wrong is just horrendous. Who signed off on that?
Thats my thought. There’s been a bit of OTT over-energetic comms in recent months and I’ve no truck with what I suspect is a junior putting them together. But someone senior is driving the message, encouraging and signing this stuff off. The KO thing is not the first time something materially basic is wrong.
Love how a burger and beer becomes a darts dish by putting 180 in front!

A dilemma no longer, Luke. Half a dozen '180 beer and burger' deals for just north of a bullseye and you and your pals are onto a winner. See you on the 29th. 🎯
Thing is, if we were winning games although this would still be a stupid gimmick, we would more likely all turn a blind eye. Fact we're not winning games and getting sucked into a relegation battle makes it look pathetic.

And that's the point. The club as a whole should be pulling in the same direction and putting all of their efforts in getting the standard on the pitch up to scratch and nothing else. Until that happens all this commercial stuff is pointless. But as you can see with this sorry effort, ego Methven is cracking on with his own endeavours just so he can say he's done his bit when the yanks start pointing fingers. Until the dynamics of this football club change, it will never succeed.
Does anybody know the name of the specific individual at Charlton Athletic who decided that there could be a half hearted clap for Kevin Nolan just before the half time crossbar challenge? Would such a decision come under the umbrella of ‘communications’?

Try not to laugh!
Yet the club couldn't find a spare weekend match for International Addicks' Day.
I really despair.
They can't even get the time right in the graphic. It's a 12:30 kickoff

Have to admit the 180 burger and beer meal seems incredibly good value for just over a tenner though.

Realistically it probably is
