  • You can just see the confidence draining from the players, especially the youngsters. So many terrible first touches today that are examples of that. Jones doesn't appear to have any clue to how to address but I honestly believe a better manager could get a tune out of this squad.

Momentous occasion. We've finally found our first AI-generated player marks poster
What game was he watching 😂
  • The bench containing all the high profile summer signings shows how bad recruitment has been

People won’t like it but NJ’s post match interview is one of a manager who has been told he won’t be sacked and has time.
Which is the correct way to do things. No knee jerk reactions. Just let hom assemble his squad the way he wants. We now have January & the summer window to plan for next season. We aren't getting relegated this season so time to take stock & go again.
Agreed, a plan is slowly forming
  • Gillesphey constantly proves he’s not good enough for the team. No intensity, too many missed passes and not keeping up with the play. Would rather see Dan Potts playing there.
Who ? Dan Dan the injury prone man. He has been injured most of the season so far, not knocking you for your dislike of Gillesphey but replacing him with a man made of  Balsa wood may not be the answer.
  • I wouldn’t even give the little twat a taxi. He can bloody walk back to Wales.

We definitely tried to play it forward more. Feels like we're trying to do the attacking work that should have been done in pre season but pre season was all about the defensive side. I think this season is probably done and that's not good enough but I can see the second half of the season being better than the first
That is extraordinarily optimistic. I see a side in relegation form scrapping for 0-0s with no creativity and no forwards able to hit the target.

    "slowly"?
  • Another game on a knife edge but lacking any real quality up front, despite us ending with four strikers on the pitch. Mansfield were on top first half, we had a decent spell in the second, but neither side did enough to deserve the win. The ref? Gave them everything, though thankfully we didn’t give him the chance to point to the spot.

The bigger concern for me is how flat we’ve become. At the start of the season, the energy was there; now it’s like the team’s either burnt out or stopped buying into Jones’ plan. For those calling for his head, who do you actually think we can get? Personally, I’d give him January to sort the squad. Knee-jerk changes now might just set us back even further.

I am sure there are a few more Luton rejects he can pick up and give an unearned payday to.

How are you certain we aren’t going down?
  • View of the North stand , from the South stand, sent to me by a Mansfield fan, nearly as sparse as our attacking play.
That is so depressing, didn’t look that sparse on the tele.

3 wins in the last 16 league games.

One goal scored in the last 4 games.

It's certainly not promotion form, is it?

Because as depressingly shit as it’s been the last few years, there are at least half a dozen sides consistently worse than us.
After the past 3 games, I’m not so sure
  • Just had a quick look at the stats and we weren’t caught offside once, that must be pretty rare but also shows either a lack of runners or we didn’t try to find them enough

It is very frustrating watching us. There is either a lack of ability or a lack of confidence. Possibly both. I would say that we will probably stay up but relegation looks far more possible than promotion. It isn't the odd game we are frustrating, it is every game. Jones, this is not good enough and needs sorting.

Much more solid with both Jones and Mitchell at the back. Mostly useless everywhere else.
Jones and Mitchell need to be a pairing in a back 4, Edwards at LB and probably at the moment REG at RB in the absence of Ramsey / Watson

    Gillesphy is an absolute disaster

as for the rest of them MEH

how the fuck did Anderson stay on the pitch so long, yes he runs around a lot - but we could all do that - his touch is abysmal

took off Godden and left on Kanu WTF?, not his biggest fan but I’d have bought GAS on the partner Godden at HT

Leaburn so far off the pace it’s unreal at the moment.

I genuinely didn’t think this season could be worse than last…..
  • Bored, bored, bored. The only thing that brightened up the day was the sight of a massive blow up penis, being waved in the air by a fan in the away end,

NJ: "Us and Birmingham are the best two pressers in the league so we are front-footed and going after teams. We're just not taking chances at the minute. I'm sure that will change. We're not capitalising on the clean sheets at the minute."
I thought that was a joke, just seen it’s a genuine quote.
That can't be a quote after today's game, surely?
    It is

I also think that interview addressed or tried to address complaints about the style of play with Jones declaring 'we tried everything to be more expansive'. He's not impervious to the comments, which is probably a good thing, he is still responsible however for a failing 29 man squad and loaded pressure on himself by declaring that Alfie May was surplus to requirements. In todays starting eleven only three players that featured  were brought into the club by the present manager, one of those, Matt Godden, was replaced at half time. The squad was carrying players who Nathan Jones and Andy Scott knew would not be required at the start of the season but moving them on is easier said than done and one of those, on the outside, Terry Taylor has forced his way back into the reckoning, but with the knowledge of the size of the squad and it's need to be trimmed, why did the club sanction the signing of Potts and Hylton ? Individually both players have had a very good careers, but injuries, in Potts case and longevity in Hyltons case mean they were signings too far, along with the signing of Luke Berry and Allan Campbell it also leaves Nathan Jones open to the charge of 'signing my mates' which is a charge that is easily deflected if they were a rip roaring success, it's clear that they have been well short of that. The January window is almost here and it will be interesting to see who we move on, if possible, some of the young players need loans out of the club and also senior players such as Edun need game time elsewhere. Surely the club would be looking to pay up Chuks Aneke's contract if a deal can be agreed, it's also, in my opinion, maybe time to look at the players  who would not have a long term future at this club, Luke Berry, Matt Godden ? Once again mistakes have been made in the transfer market and this window those signings were led by Nathan Jones, it will be two interesting windows in January and the summer, the club needs to get it right otherwise we will be in this division for many years to come.
