In fairness to Golfie, I don't think he's being supportive of the ref here, just pointing out that the club tried to allow enough time for the various remembrance stuff to be done, and were partly stymied by the ref not bringing the players out on time. But as you point out it's hardly an issue if it had delayed the start, as after all it'd not be the first time we've kicked off late.
No idea where people get their info from on what time the players were asked to come outside etc. BUT it must also be possible the players didn’t comply / rush to get out etc I would think ?
Regardless the ref being mindful of his surroundings / the screen isn’t really a big ask and difficult to excuse or explain.
If I recall correctly one of Golfie's kids works in the sound booth, so would probably have a timetable of what was due to happen when, in order to cue up the music at the appropriate times.

An utter shambles. Reflects really badly on the club and how little thought went into the organisation.
Very disappointed today.
Thinks you are aiming at the wrong target.
The ref was briefed pre-game and even told how long it would take for the names to scroll down on the screen.
My understanding of this was that the ref was briefed. If that is true and he has started the game before the roll call had finished, then I hope we lodge a complaint and he gets a suitable punishment.

I got a reply from the club this morning to confirm that they are following up with the EFL who were briefed re the memorial. Hopefully this won't happen again.

If I had known in advance I could have added another name to the list of loved ones who once graced the Valley and were lost in 2024.
Tough stuff indeed.
