Paul Elliott (The other one) has taken the club to court

Absolutely nobody pumps £500k into a business without the correct audit trail being in place 😂 😂 😂
if this sum was put into the club it should take all of 5 minutes to reconcile it. This crowd are just beyond comprehension! This is where I think we owe TS a massive thank you as without doubt he saved us from this crowd and I doubt we would still be here bemoaning our performances if he didn’t step in40 -
Can you imagine though if the scenario were accurate I.e. you did put £500k in and almost immediately it’s wiped out and you have nothing to show for it.That would be mad
You’d expect he would have fallen out with Farnell and co if that scenario was how it played out.2 -
Mate there is absolutely no scenario where anyone with £500k to invest into a business ( bar a big lottery winner the day after the cheque clears ) does so without following due diligence. That just isn’t how it worksvalleynick66 said:Can you imagine though if the scenario were accurate I.e. you did put £500k in and almost immediately it’s wiped out and you have nothing to show for it.That would be mad

Of course. I’m just saying if it were in some other universe true how ridiculous that would be.AndyG said:

Regarding due diligence that’s why of course it makes no real sense for anyone to invest unless they are a fan or in our case such a large consortium (who are taking a punt) the downside is relatively minor.0 -
Unless you're Dennis Wise ......AndyG said:Absolutely nobody pumps £500k into a business without the correct audit trail being in place 😂 😂 😂

A shame it all went sideways after.0 -
Be careful what you wish for Elliott. They might just send you ownership of the club.16
-
I agree with you that the present owners are unlikely to be a soft touch but the likes of Elliott, Farnell, Southall have such hubris that they believe they can intimidate anybody.Hal1x said:
Doubtful I dont think our American owners are such soft touches.LenGlover said:
Speculative punt in my opinion.Addicktion_to_red said:Strange to be taking this action 4.5 years after the event isn’t it
He probably has 6 years, given the statute of limitations, to recover any debt if it legally exists and hopes, given the change (s) in ownership, those with the knowledge to tell him to f*** off have disappeared and that the new regime might cough up for a quiet life.
I was just responding to @Addicktion_to_red's post0 -
Non story. Elliott didn’t want to spend significant legal fees going after Saandgard so he didn’t pursue a claim when saandgard wouldn’t negotiate a settlement. New owners with money - try again. They won’t negotiate either so this will go away.10
-
Offer him Danny Hylton as a full and final - he is worth what that twunt put into the club.
Problem solved8 -

Americans love a bit of legal shenanigans, I expect them to say bring it on. 🫤LenGlover said:

Where on Earth do you think someone as reputable as Chris Farnell - "who has represented former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and acted on behalf of footballer Cristiano Ronaldo" - would get the idea that it's worth going to court over a claim over the interpretation of a £500,000 payment/loan?PragueAddick said:
Not representing him I am sure, but I am equally sure its his idea.LargeAddick said:Wonder if our old mate Chris Farnell will be representing him?
He hasn't been involved in anything like that for ... *checks notes* - more than a month.

Isn't the key issue one that was brought up on the last court case? If I remember correctly, the Judge asked if CAFC was the only asset of East Street Investments. Elliot's barrister said it wasn't, which is why the proceedings were taken out against ESI in the first place. A magnificent piece of legal legerdemain was performed by the CAFC team, (including the marvellous Lauren Creamer) by shuffling papers, and staying shtum. Because of this, it lead to Sandgaard purchasing Charlton Athletic Holdings (NOT ESI) for £1.
As far as I can see, Mr. Elliot can pursue his case against ESI (good luck with that!) or, at best, Thomas Sandgaard.4 -
Bravo for the first - as far as I am aware - use of legerdemain on Charlton Life, so far.5

Imagine thinking you've reached an agreement on something worth £500k but it's never written down? Then imagine your business is involved in the legal sector ......... the mind boggles!!!Chizz said:

In practice there's a reason these types of people don't have this stuff written down into anything resembling a clear and straightforward legal agreement. It's all about smoke and mirrors.3 -
Farnell’s firm have since settled what was a £1m debt. Story doesn’t confirm amount of settlement, but does say he’s now considering a claim against another party in the deal - Global Sports Data & Technology Ltd. One of the two directors of this company is…Russell Slade!!! 🤔Chizz said:

It seems that there should be a good piece of advice for anyone considering doing business with Farnell: avoid getting involved in a deal with him, because you'd end up being sued. Unsuccessfully.2
-
Just a thought…could this get Russell Slade the “legend” status at Charlton that his management never did.
The man who screwed Farnell!!See Russell, all you needed to win us over was…patience!!! 🤔😂😂😂2 -
Good summary by the judge: ‘no arguable defence’ and ‘no rational prospect of success’. He added: 'It is an example of a case where a “cloud of objections” has been raised to “obfuscate the real issues”
Sounds like that might be a summary of Farnell's whole career.5 -
I really wonder that Farnell and Slater didn’t start their own law firm.0
-
First half of Farnell & second half of Slater would work well for a name! 😉Airman Brown said:I really wonder that Farnell and Slater didn’t start their own law firm.8
