Equals our biggest win against EFL opposition since 6-0 vs Shrewsbury in April 2023.
Our first FA Cup win against EFL opposition in over six years, since Mansfield in a first round replay in November 2018.6 -
Throughly professional performance that. Hoping for the worst team possible or a big 6 team + London club away in round 31
-
They hadn’t lost since October and the difference in leagues isn’t big. Fair to point out earlier they rested players but I’ll take what we can at the moment.Bedsaddick said:
Walsall didn’t look very good today . Perhaps they were just having an off day ?ValleyGary said:That’s a good result, please now take this into the league. Walsall prob better side than half our league.0 -
The Nigels at The Valley in round 3 please.0

Well this is annoying, I’ve got to be nice to @Callumcafc until probably the Crawley result.“Big” game there…4 -
To put things in perspective, they rested six players and had two subbed in 1st half including probably their best player. Good to see our CMs kept Jamal Matt quiet, he is dangerous.4

A second midlands club that we’ve ruined this meme for this season…

They won't be saying that if number 46 gets drawn out away to City , Arsenal , Spurs or United on Monday night...eaststandmike said:
Not really, they are second in the league with a game in hand, promotion is clearly more of a priority than the FA Cup so I doubt the manager and directors are bothered about getting knocked outBedsaddick said:
More fool them.eaststandmike said:
They rested 6 of their first team, that was Walsall reservesBedsaddick said:

You can only beat whats put in front of you and thats what we did and for once, not scraping a 1-0. A professional job done.Gisappointed said:To put things in perspective, they rested six players and had two subbed in 1st half including probably their best player. Christ I think they would deal with our long balls too easily!! And the possession stats would be in the 90’s 😂 whereas I think Ahadme would have TAA in his pocket 😂 😂 😂killerandflash said:
City away is the one I want.AndyG said:You can’t knock a 4-0 win away from home ! Hopefully we get a great draw Monday night ! Liverpool away would be ideal for me 😜
Manchester City not Birmingham.3 -
Brilliant result and how very typical Charlton.
The first game I don’t see for about a year and we win 0-4.
I tried to watch on a couple of those links and got major virus threat warnings so gave up and did some virus/malware scans & had to remove potential threats.
Anyway, really pleased for the fans that went, all fans, the players & the coaching team.
It’s the hope that kills you and when you start to think you’re getting to not caring, we come up with a great result and I couldn’t be happier.13 -
They made six changes from midweek but not the same as six first team players rested.Gisappointed said:To put things in perspective, they rested six players and had two subbed in 1st half including probably their best player. Good to see our CMs kept Jamal Matt quiet, he is dangerous.
They actually rested Lakin and Jellis against Bromley in midweek and brought both back into their starting line up today. Plus their captain and main centre back made his first start after an injury. So probably three players missing from their best XI. One of those three came on as a sub (Matt) and still couldn’t score.26 -
Am hoping this result is the spark that has them continue in regular league games, at least get us a playoff spot.3

@Rossman92 lives in the USA so closer to the start of the weekend there.balham red said:
Not convinced you could say this was the start to the weekend. I mean, I'm in Asia so its midnight on Saturday night, but in the UK it's 5pm Saturday.Rossman92 said:Safe travels home everyone! Lovely start to the weekend!
That's pretty deep into the weekend.1 -

Winning, like losing, is a habit and we've now won two in a row. And all four goals today were from forwards.
Neither were against the best opposition but you can only beat what is in front of you.
Fingers crossed the team can carry this form and these results into the games against Crawley, Lincoln and beyond.

On my way back home from the match.
I had absolutely no idea what to expect from today's game as predicting Charlton this season is tough.
So I'm happy to say I was delighted by the way we played.
In my opinion we dominated the first half.
Defended well under pressure for long periods 2nd half , and then punished them at the end.
Please play like this in our next few league games and try to reach the top 6.
League one is pony so all is possible.29 -
Certainly is as i approach my last hour on a long 12 hr dayshift.Rossman92 said:Safe travels home everyone! Lovely start to the weekend!1 -

Winning big away against a promotion chasing team from L2 suggest L2 is our level then, or is that just bollocks.valleynick66 said:We have found our level6 -
Might not be popular on here but I'd keep leaburn dropped for Tuesday. Ruins our attacks by taking 10 touches before even picking his head up and rarely passes. Should play that starting team Tuesday imo. COYR4

Good point. You could effectively say we rested Leaburn, Jones, Ramsay and Mannion because they all would have been first picks.Callumcafc said:

Excellent result and a performance to boot.8 -
So we beat Wallsall reserves! Does this mean we're not shit anymore?0

Worries me I had to think for a second, as wondered who Crawley was!!ButtleJR said:Might not be popular on here but I'd drop leaburn for Crawley. Ruins our attacks by taking 10 touches before even picking his head up and rarely passes. Should play that starting team Tuesday.5 -
