  • PWR while Kant is down. It’s a box midfield with Karoy and AC the advanced 2. We look solid and have had a couple of promising opportunities. Better than recent games
  • Well, whatever happens from here, it’s been better than midweek.
Can we do it against the lesser teams?

Kanu much better. Docherty showing a bit more. Campbell looks like he's still not fit.
  • Bolton 0-2 Shrews
  • We've had a reasonabke spell of possession without doing anything with it, it's far too congested in the middle and no-one's making line-breaking runs.
It didn’t really go anywhere, but crucially it gives everyone a physical and mental break from having to chase after Birmingham constantly.
  • Wrexham 1-1
  • If we'd played like this and kept the ball this well on Tuesday we would have battered Bristol. It's a shame it's taken weeks of hoofball against mediocre teams to finally play football against the best team in the division.
  • Long break in play here as DK gets treatment.

Now jogging off so should be back on in 30 seconds (assuming the ref pays attention to the clock).

Funny players look better when we press harder and play more football. Hope this is more like the way we continue playing. This season.
  • Given how we're lined up, (with the front two in the box midfield designed to stop the Birmingham playmakers) I wonder how we can implement this in future games.

As feels this formation is setup to deal with Birmingham rather than play how we want.

  • Ref clearly supports Birmingham
  • Got some momentum there and Kanu gets injured and it kills it
  • Brownie makes me laugh; RE: Kanu's head injury and having to stay off the pitch for 30secs, what with the Blackpool antics a few weeks ago.
  • I have to say I expected a lot more from A Campbell but he's been disappointing so far this season.
  • We've caught them high up the pitch a few times now, just haven't had the quality to create a chance from it.

I'm not gonna get carried away, it's only been 20 mins and most teams don't invite the press.

Happy to go with the box in future games, Jones like the energy and pressing and we're def showing that again today.

You can put Berry in for one of the advanced two for a bit more quality on the ball and even stick Taylor deep alongside Coventry in the dreaded double pivot.

Still not seeing much from the wingbacks though.
  • I will not be too sorry if we only win 1-0 😂

Fair point but as someone who's been pretty critical of Jones recently I am holding my hands up and saying he should get at least a bit of credit here early on - there were a lot of questions about whether he would/could try any other tactics than 3 5 2 and he's answered that pretty clearly.

Okay so we're still pressing a lot but it's actually looking much more effective in its current form and he looks like having the players still on board with him.

Oh dont get me wrong, I'm not being critical of Jones, and think he's got it right so far with this formation - Just wondering how we can implement it in future games

Oh my word, that was close!!

Brum player dispossessed 40 yards out, quick ball forward and a 30-yard effort just fizzed over the bar.

Was that Godden's shot? I can't bloody tell from here ...

That shot was for you, good effort from range
  • Taylor will never get in a Jones team
