Not many teams can afford 3 game losing runs and still get promoted… anything less is failure when you’re in league one… you’d have to be deluded not to shit the bed after that trio of performances - unfortunately Jones had been consistently failing to address the issues which were clear to most for majority of the season - poor management
to his credit, he made substantial changes today which I didn’t think he would and managed today IMPECCABLY - good management 👏
we shall see if we can keep delivering against other sides and take this forward
It's pretty rare. Last time it happened was 21/22, when Rotherham finished 2nd and lost 3 in a row and 4 in 5. Ahead of them Wigan didn't lose 3 in a row but they were winless in 5 and lost 2 in that time. Sunderland won the Playoffs and lost 3 in a row twice. One of those sequences they didn't win in 6 and lost 4 in that time. Also, two of those teams' 3 game loss runs involved them losing to us, which implies it's pretty humiliating and crushes their morale, which is understandable. In 22/23 Wendies finished 3rd and won the Playoffs. They only lost two in a row but they were winless in 6 which I'm sure we all enjoyed. 3 in a row is not good and we can't afford to have another run where we only win 1 in 6 but it''s not necessarily fatal as long as we sustain this improvement.
Personally didn’t see much wrong with Jones’s interview. There is a difference between criticism and personal abuse and it sounds like he got some of the latter at Bristol on Tuesday. I like that he admitted he got it wrong and he’ll learn from that. Today he got it spot on. We’ve finally got a decent manager and we need to back him and trust the process. There will be bumps along the way but I’m sure we will get there. He’s had one window to try and sort the squad out. It will take at least another to further improve. If we can be in contention in January and strengthen further then I’m confident of a top six finish, then who knows. Continue improving, a bit of luck along the way too and top two isn’t a million miles away. Keep the faith people.
Jones’s rant at in todays press conference is not of a man who’s well with the world
A well earned win against a top of the table team today and he then goes off on one about Tuesday night and then the abuse he took after that game
1. Enjoy today and look forward
2. In future don’t go over to the hardcore 500 plus that go week in, week out and expect then to kiss your arse. Bad results happen from time to time. Accept it and walk off
Disagree. I think if you get stick you are entitled to give it back. Shows he's got a backbone and a temper. I don't want our manager to be our friend....I want him to have an edge and be able to inspire that edge and competitiveness into our players.
Today was an excellent response in the performance to well deserved criticism and as fans if we give pelters then players and managers are entitled to give it back and they should be allowed to.
He's an emotional, heart on your sleeve type and i prefer that in a drab media trained world of modern football.
Jones was rightly criticised for some inexplicable results and so were the players and if fans have given it it's only right he can give a bit back after a barnstorming response in which he's feeling vindicated in the moment.
We (royal we fanbase) can't scream blue murder and scream **** at someone from ten feet away and then get upset when a jab is returned via the press after win.
We're all on the same side. We'll get behind him and the team and they deliver results that warrants the support. That's the deal. All the rest is just pantomime.

The thing we should remember is that Jones is far from being a wordsmith. Also he can come out with stuff like referring to being told Docherty couldn't play in the position he did well in which seemed to me to be a needless dig at somebody in the club. I find his interviews a bit frustrating to listen to so I have decided not to. Reading the text above and taking into account how Jones expresses himself, I think he was basically saying that those who have been criticising haven't seen the whole picture in terms of knocks or issues in training. He is saying we should just trust him to get it right.
If he said that in a less confrontational way we woudn't be discussing it. On Tuesday night, he told us the performance was totally on him which surely invited criticism as a lot of us could see issues when the team was announced. But we probably should be making allowances for the character he his. Which we were aware of before we got him. We brought him in for what he did at Luton and we probably have to accept the good and bad that comes with it.
Because we did so well yesterday, he probably thinks he is empowered to give some back. Fair enough, if we keep winning and he keeps giving it back, we will gladly take it. But if he picks Watson to start again, I am going to kick off and say it makes no sense to me as it doesn't. In the last few selections there have been eyebrow raising picks and you get away with these if you win or at least play well.
Anyway, it is tptally irrelevant if he is my type of manager or not. If he is successful, he is the right manager for us. But he has to work out how to improve us against he weaker sides who try to stop us rather than beat us. I agree with Callum in that it is a coin toss in a lot of games whether we win them or lose them and that won't get you promoted, but he has to get the attack right and ensure he doesn't mess up the defence whilst doing so.
Alright mate, you are the welsh football napoleon. Well done, now fulfill your destiny, crack on and conquer large parts of western Europe for us if you don't mind. Tidy.
I mean we’ve just produced 3 of the wankiest back to back performances in our history, against genuine nothing clubs and we then produce a proper worldie in comparison which makes the previous 3 even more shocking . Give us another two worldies on the bounce and I’ll drop to my knees and gobble your Welsh winkle off while announcing you as the second coming of Curbs , I’m a lot harder to get than some of the fellatio crew on here who drop to their knees a lot easier .

Hardly a turnaround is it, one win after three defeats. Let’s take yesterday’s tactics, energy, and teamwork into the next three or four games and win them.

Thats a turnaround
It's absolutely a turnaround just based on the level of performance. Whether we can sustain it or was it just a one off, that really is down to the next few games.

I do believe he's a church goer so very possible.
