I can’t get that gloaty Jones expression from Saturday when he spoke about “you know, we’ve got players who want to play for this football club, and you know, 👀, that’s not always been the case in the past” as if to tell us we should be grateful for this wonderful die for the badge group he’s created.
i think most of them do want to play for the club but actually I think most of the players failing Adkins wanted to play for the club, but they didn’t want to play for him and it’s very evident they don’t want to play for Jones and have completely lost belief in him.
Wouldn't pay out his contract, would keep him on as the understudy to the groundsman and boot / kit man, cutting and polishing and cleaning till he gets the hump and quits. He might be paid his salary but it would fuck him up in a heartbeat.
Think that’s known as constructive dismissal.
Also the bloke has and is doing his best. Not everyone's cup of tea but I did find the passion refreshing albeit grew tired of the touchline histrionics and sending offs.
No need to abuse the bloke personally as he's given his all and obviously cares.
It's just that it's not been good enough and nothing to date suggests it will be.
But very unnecessary to **** him off on a personal level as not seen anything that warrants that (not aimed at quoted post just in general all the usual frothing on social media etc).
Still a bloke with a family doing his best at a job.
I never posted last night as I was so angry at yet another completely rubbish performance. Jones has most of his first choice player's fit now so he can't use injuries as an excuse for a performance like that. He needs to go and he needs to go quickly. The trouble is that I believe our senior management team are as inept as he is and I don't trust them one iota to bring in a suitable replacement. Jones is the third manager to work under these clowns and he's the third to fail in his job. Our American owners must at some point come to the conclusion that Charlie and his chums are not up to the job of getting us promoted. As costly as it might be to our American Billionaires they simply have to have a complete clear out and bring in proper football people who are up to the task .
Starting to realise Jones is very similar to Dowie, all bluster, alpha-dynamics, he needs to have the players submit and buy completely in with him and his methodology. I’m your leader, I lead, you follow. And have a tailwind of good fortune go your way with some decent players at his disposal.
When it works, it gets momentum, the group stay tight and outperforms. But when it doesn’t work, it’s spectacularly awful.
Dowie could only make it work once at Palace but then had a succession of failures.

Surely the penny must have dropped with the money men about the current management team.
18 months of bullshit and lip service and we're 4 points off the relegation spot and selling Wrexham scarves with one of the worst squads I've seen in over 35 years of watching us.
15 wins in 39 games in all competitions at this level is pretty grim reading. And even worse when of those 15 wins, some of them were:
Cheltenham - relegated and now bottom half in league 2. Carlisle - relegated and now in the relegation zone in league 2. Cambridge, Bromley and Chelsea's youth team - EFL trophy which no one really cares about. Southend and Walsall - lower league cup opponents. Burton - on track to be one of the worst league one sides in history. Shrewsbury - strong chance they will be relegated this season.
Once again, Jones approached pisspoor opposition like we’re the underdog. Scrap for possession, constantly lump it anywhere and hope for some kind of luck a from a second ball or a knockdown.
We have hardly had a chance.. just lumping it. It is a disgrace. And all down to Jones and the way the team is set up.
Piss poor! Fuming
Never the owners fault. We get it.
To be honest, how can you blame them for the style and the piss poor football.. Jones was the fans choice, he is the highest paid manager in Charlton’s history. He got backed in the summer, he got what he wanted..
it was better under Appleton.
We need outside the box appointment, and give them time.. Jones isn’t the answer for moving this club forward.
The SMT appointed Jones, there was no supporters choice that made the decision.
As CM was only delighted to tell us all when things were going well under Jones, he was the SMT choice before Appleton
When I saw the team sheet, Leaburn & Ahadme up top, no TC, no Dixon, I decided not to stay up all night, save a tenner, and go to sleep instead.
That's a lovely massage and a decent meal for me, so I made the right choice.
Nothing is going to change until Jones recognises, acknowledges, and then goes about trying to rectify our deficiencies. Unless and until he can swallow his pride and the words "lack of creativity" leave his lips, then this is going only one way.

Culture of failure comes from the top down.
As I've said previously, I'm really not sure if that's how it works with this lot and I really don't think their plan is to pump shed loads of money into this. I should think Methvens sales pitch was something along the lines of "Small investment. Big reward."
Once again, Jones approached pisspoor opposition like we’re the underdog. Scrap for possession, constantly lump it anywhere and hope for some kind of luck a from a second ball or a knockdown.
“But we had more shots!”
This is one of the main issues for me.
This isn’t the front footed style he talks about it being. It’s overly cautious, risk averse, relying on us keeping clean sheets and finding that one goal to win.
There must be players in the squad who want to play a bit more football.
I don’t think he’s ever talked about being brave on the ball, more creative, better movement etc.
If he doesn’t speak about it when interviewed how much focus do those areas get on the training pitch? Not enough from the evidence on the pitch. Being organised, aggressive and having a good defensive structure are all important, but it’s not the only area to get right to win games.
The owners and board are also fooling themselves if they think this underdog approach in L1 will be effective in developing and showcasing academy players to sell on. Leaburn despite being very tall will thrive more in a team playing decent football rather than this rigid, direct and defensive football.
We have hardly had a chance.. just lumping it. It is a disgrace. And all down to Jones and the way the team is set up.

Not sure it's entirely fair to criticise the SMT for appointing Jones because as far as i recall most fans were very happy at the time that we'd managed to get him.

Said this the other day, he never talks about creativity, movement, shape, possession, passing or any sort of identifiable creative or attacking blueprint.
Every interview it’s all about aggression, pressing, how well we did the basics and swarmed amongst the opposition. It’s almost like he thinks goals and winning are a sort of accidental by-product of this stuff, like they’ll just happen on their own if you press an opposing team to oblivion. Pressing and being a pain in the arse are only one component - you still need to create something half decent and have some players with killer instinct.
Last couple of post-match interviews he's explicitly mentioned how many attacking players he's put on the pitch. Sounds like that might be addressed to the Americans - know someone on here mentioned that a conversation had happened recently.
We have hardly had a chance.. just lumping it. It is a disgrace. And all down to Jones and the way the team is set up.

Was not blaming the SMT, pointing out that they made the appointment, some will be keen to deflect any blame from them (not you)

Absolutely agree with this , all the talk of being aggressive and front footed has worn thin now. You aren't going to get anywhere in this league playing the way we currently do because it all falls apart as soon as you go behind. The lack of creativity still absolutely baffles me , it's like a lower league side in a cup tie every week hoping to nick something off a setpiece and hold on. At least some of the Roland weird managers or Slade had a couple of exciting attacking players that were capable of a moment of magic , Jones seems completely adverse to even that.
Don't want to see this Leaburn and Ahadme front pair persisted with , play one of them with Godden not both with Godden shoehorned into a 10 role and use the other one off the bench with DK.
I actually do think he might be trying to get the sack, it's the only way his recent selections and post match comments make any sense. He's either trying to get sacked and thus a payout or is truly a nutter
What is essential is that Scott and Methven are sent packing too. We cannot allow them to appoint the next manager. They are a laughing stock in the game and any decent manager will not touch us while they are here. We need to organise protests with the sole reason of communicating to the owners that ultimately, they are the barrier to this club improving. When Jones does go we will have another desperate manager (like Appleton) or madman (like Jones).
We have hardly had a chance.. just lumping it. It is a disgrace. And all down to Jones and the way the team is set up.

No but @DubaiCAFC is correct the vast majority were overwhelmingly supportive of Jones as manager, he was also backed.
The blame first and foremost lays with the manager.
What formation was we meant to be playing last night?
The tried and tested junior school playground formation where somebody kicks the ball anywhere, preferably where nobody on their own team is likely to be and everyone runs after it. Sadly the boys in the other team didn’t join in.
Yes I am Jones N and I am packing my bags and calling a taxi in expectation of the sack any minute now (Only the thin lifeline of the win at Walsall can surely save me now)
Zero cohesion in the team. Players constantly getting in each others way Hoofing it anywhere when you have time to bring the ball down and play Team moving around the pitch en masse following the ball Midfield constantly bypassed Balls played to the lone striker who has nobody within 30m of him
We have hardly had a chance.. just lumping it. It is a disgrace. And all down to Jones and the way the team is set up.

They’ve picked 3 managers that have failed, and the recruitment has been terrible throughout their involvement.
Andy Scott is in charge of the footballing side, the footballing side has been an utter failure due to the decisions he’s made. There finally(!) needs to be some accountability for this and if another manager has to be sacked then he has to go too

Precisely. One bad appointment is arguably just bad luck, twice is poor judgment, three consecutively is incompetence.

The whole SMT have been a shit show. Big salaries to Rodwell and Elliott, to do what exactly? Last night has got to be one of the lowest attendances we've ever had for a league game, but Methven was on a podcast tugging himself off over the fact that we piggy backed off of Wrexham's popularity a few weeks ago.
That's before you even get to the fact that they (Scott) thought Michael Appleton was a good appointment, and the constant stream of appalling players coming through the door.
These supposedly 'experienced' bunch are somehow doing worse than Sandgaard, who had literally zero idea what he was doing.
Last year Jones used Tyreece Campbell a lot. Appleton clearly didn't rate TC and his confidence was shot. This season Jones has turned a player with skill, pace and the ability to finish into a player I barely recognise. At the start of the season he played him up front. Not because he was trying to turn him in to an effective striker but because he would run around for 70 minutes as the first line of defence. He'd then substitute him when the opposition players got tired. TC has no goals and no assists this season in the league which is astounding for a player of his ability. The responsibility for that lies at Jones' door.

Slightly more attacking than 4 box 2 but still boring and ineffective
