  • Third round matches will take place the weekend of January 11th.

If we lose to Walsall on Saturday, we would be guaranteed to be playing our league match against Bolton on that date since Walsall also defeated Bolton in the first round.

If we beat Walsall, the Bolton away game would be rearranged to a midweek later in the season.
Crikey. If that plays out and we go to Bolton for a dead rubber on a Tuesday in April we could see a turnout under the 250 of us at Burton the other night.

We'll get Wigan away to take its place...
  • Dont forget it was Nathan Jones at Southampton who stopped Man City in the League Cup a few years ago...

Bolton away midweek, a very bleak experience.

  • Its gonna be Lincoln away in R3 isn’t it
  • Just not a league 1 club.
Prefer the lowest team left away and just like today we play a strong 18 or at least the strongest available.
  • AFC Wimbledon v Dagenham has been delayed cos the ref has had to go off injured, and they've had to appeal for a qualified ref from the crowd to be 4th official.

Any experts from this forum in the area?

    Nah his legs have gone
  • Dagenham beat Wimbledon 2-1. Not a good result for JJ. He’s taken the Charlton cup curse to Wimbledon.

Anything now is a bonus (take anything at home that isn't a League One or Two club), Away day against a Premier Club.
    Up the Addicks!!

  • Hardly any non league teams left. Not many league 2 either.

The magic of the cup is slowly fading. By round 5 it will be mostly Premier League sides.

The FA destroying the glamour of it’s own competition…again

Bolton is bleak at the best of times, not just midweek.
  • Think it often fluctuates we just only remember the years with good stories. Coventry making the semifinals was good last year and non league Maidstone made it to the fifth round beating Ipswich and Stevenage on the way. Just doesn’t stick in the memory as there’s so much other football

Yeah wonder how much the scrapping of replays has impacted the number of Non-League sides reaching Round three

League Teams not taking the initial tie seriously because they had the luxury of a replay if needed, and getting turned over as a result

Couple of nights in Manchester ain't so bad though....if time and money isn't a problem.
  • First time we've reached this stage of the competition having beaten a league opponent in nearly a decade isn't it?
  • Marvin Sordell has just come on for Ketts.
  • Blackburn away ….or Stockport away
  • Blackburn away ….or Stockport away
The dream tie away at a ground we will revist in March for a league match.

Do not draw number 46 with a league 1team.
