I think that I've had enough

Like many of you I have supported Charlton for over 50 years, I've seen us in all but the lowest league level and the way Jones has the team playing now is about the worst I've seen, they sold our 2 best players who now play for our competitors, they have brought in very few players as good as those two. I would accept this awful way of playing if we won more games but I just can't see it. Ok I do watch matches on CATV and not live but the current football is dross. I'll carry on doing the stats but not with pleasure. From his arrival I have thought Jones to be another poor manager and nothing has changed my mind.

  • Will probably be my last season with a season ticket. And will probably bin VG. Feel really pissed off at the moment
  • Losing at non league stadiums like Stevenage is always hard to take BUT it sadly is a reflection of the club we now are.
  • Living abroad, paying for the stream each week was always a nice way to unwind at the weekend and keep up my 40 years support of the club.
Will take a break now as even during the early points haul, it has been awful to watch.
Maybe one last time when Leaburn returns but one man don't change a team or a system.

Bad run of form at the minute but don’t for a minute believe that this is worse than the nonsense we put up with through December, January and February last season.
That should not be the bar we're looking to clear though.
No but good things usually take time. Especially when there’s a big repair job that needs to happen.

I’m pissed off and frustrated too but we’ve already tried going through manager after manager hoping for a quick fix.

I’m clinging on to the fact that we’re at the early stages of the healing process. Giving up now would be like giving up on a diet because you’ve only lost two pounds in the first month.
  • I've been trying to become emotionally detached having long been geographically so and not attending, but to no avail. Counselling an option I suppose, or going to watch Kettering up the road instead. They're doing not bad so far in the league this season
  • You only ‘think’?

    🙁
  • Hate to say it after a defeat, as most are frustrated and wound up, and rightly so.

I am absolutely sick of being in this division, it’s rarely enjoyable.

But I’m taking a longer term approach, yes we are predictable, and not creative enough, my view is it would take us at least a couple of seasons to become a serious promotion candidate, it’s a huge ask to turn it around as we’ve had so many rubbish  players to pay off / get rid of, we’ve not been a serious club for years.

A top 2 team would have gone there and won / got something out of that match today.

What we could do with a Johnnie Robinson type of player in the team, never settle for second best, and knew how to cross a ball.

never bought the pre-season hype that selling dobby and may was good for the team, and the likes of Coventry are better then Dobby, the team is flat, no one plays with any pride or purpose, a whiff of a semi decent footballer and we sell him, that's been the model for years, and as expected the standards have dropped

  • My last away was Wembley nothing since has enticed me to go away. 5th season in L1 and the last few seasons have felt a chore to go to home games, it also doesn't help anyone half decent leaves at the first opportunity

The latest owners have made some bad decisions Appleton, CBT and not replacing him , Dobson contract fiasco and May going.
  • Sadly, I think if Nathan was to resign and go for the Cardiff job nobody would be too upset. WTF is going on ?

Even if a new manager was to come in ( and I don’t think that should happen) he would still only have the same players to work with and as they say - You can’t polish a turd .

The worry is and I suppose obvious to most is that Methven has repeatedly said that Charlton Athletic and League One really don't work. I assume he means as a commercial vessel. A money generator.
So where do we, and equally importantly the investment group go if it looks like we will be spending another season in this Barren land??

A lot of people are just numb to it all.
