Reasons to be positive for the rest of the season

  • The main reason to be cheerful is that we don't have Duchalet, Slater or Sandgaard in charge.

Everything is going to come up Milhause because-

    Jones isn't gonna desert us.
Leaburn isn't gonna play a few games to prove his fitness and be flogged off.
Ahadme is going to suddenly find his shooting boots and finish the league top scorer.
Our midfield are going to workout a system turning them into a potent attacking force.
Because our set pieces are suddenly going to click.
  • 6 teams immediately below us have a game in hand and if won could go above us
2 played their games in hand tonight. Neither passed us.

We finished 18th last season and whilst we ideally would like automatics, we would be happy with a play off place, but even a 10 to 7 position would be a progress after years of mismanagement and chaos. Unless we have brummie like buckets of money to throw about we can only hope to build a squad to get promotion through multiple transfer windows. It may take just the one gone by or the January window or it may take the next two or three.

To not be top 6 this season would be disappointing but it's not disaster, if we are not next season then it's disaster and we can justifiably moan!
This is a great post. A lot of people forget where we were in the table and just how bad we were when Jones took over. A side heading for relegation who hadn't won for months and couldn't even beat Cray Valley at home!

He signed a long term contract with a clear aim at rebuilding the club. Since then he has had ONE transfer window, yet he's improved the defence massively and he has us currently up in the play off spots. What more exactly do people expect him to be doing at this point in the rebuild?

Obviously we all want promotion and at least the play offs, but if we are to finish 7-10th for example then as long as more dead wood is gone with good players coming in, then that is progress and we can build on that into next season.
He's had 1 transfer window where he brought in 2 defenders (Mitchell & Edwards) - the rest of the defenders that have contributed to the clean sheets were already here.

Whereas he sold our top goalscorer & replaced him with Ahadme & Godden......then brought in the midfield of Berry, Docherty & Campbell  (A).

I think you can say he's done quite a lot already in 1 transfer window.

Yep. Always take the points on the board.

And they were generally performing really badly before Jones got here.

However my point is you can't judge a manager after just one transfer window. Unless they are called Karel Fraeye or we're getting smacked 3-0 most weeks then a manager has to be given time.

Jones has done very little wrong so far to suggest he doesn't deserve plenty of time.

I’d rather be a point or two behind and about to play someone shit given the choice
