  • There should be a bigger advantage to finishing top 8 imo.
Why have such a big league format when you can finish 24th and only play one more round than the top teams?
  • Blimey - as Peter Burrowes remarked after the Keith Peacock testimonial in 1972: "Football from another planet".
  • PSG just have one team in their way now to winning everything in Europe in a single year... Spurs.. and the Super Cup... ;)
  • Be double figures if they play like they did last night!

    No injury time? questionable refereeing..

No doubt UEFA will sanction the ref for blowing the final whistle on 90 minutes.

No injury time as the referee decides Inter have been humiliated enough

That was quite bizarre as there was a plethora of subs in the 2nd half and stoppages.
Did the Inter bench throw the towel in on 90 minutes as they were taking such a beating and the ref called a halt to stop further Punishment !

Inter couldn't lay a glove on the young talent of PSG from start to the early finish.

  • 5-0 or 10-0?

Think similar happened in a Euro final when Spain were tonking Italy 4-0 and the ref blew on 90 minutes.

Werner & Tel will tear the PSG defenders a new one.
  • Big Ange has found a Plan B in Europe,  so presumably won't be playing a high line against the PSG attack  :D

Christ. Can you imagine what PSG will do to Ange’s Spurs.
  • Sadly, looks like Ange is a goner.
£7m settlement according to the ITKers today.

Harsh after the European campaign but you cannot ignore significant failure in the league. He’s had long enough. Champion’s League qualification and money is the right time for Spurs to get a better manager and attract decent players to maintain that status.

I get it was their first trophy in however long, but they also didn't beat anyone good and were absolutely awful in the final (just less awful than United) so I can understand thinking he still needs to go.

Would caveat that by saying their injury list are times this season was awful.

Just for the record, Werner has been sent back to Germany, club confirmed that on Friday.  Will be interesting to see what happens with Tel.  He's shown some real glimpses of quality in a team that has been struggling.

Its not harsh at all in all honesty.
Ange knows the league form was nothing short of catastrophic and would he his downfall.

Yet again though, who is out there to replace him?

Iraola? Glasner?  I liked Glasner's football in Germany before he went Palace and said at the time them getting him was a massive coup.  I like what Iraola has done at AFC B.  Its quite something when they press man to man literally with all 10 outfield players.

    But would they leave?

From what the ITKers suggest, they wont.  Its more likely to be Thomas Frank or Marco Silva.  Not sure how I feel about both of them.  At least they know how to organise a back four!

A chance at CL football and more money goes a long way!  That cup win changed a lot for Spurs and United in very different ways!

Seems harsh to me. It's pretty clear that injuries affected the league form and that once it was obvious Spurs wouldn't get European football through their league position, Ange gave up on the league to put all the focus on Europe.

But if his job depends on the league position, and winning the Europa League to get CL football isn't enough to keep his job, then why wasn't he sacked ages ago?

It's also telling any future manager that forget winning a trophy, all that matters is the league position.
  • PSG post-match celebrations did not go well.

2 people dead, 192 injured, 559 arrested and 264 vehicles set on fire.

    That's some ridiculous numbers.

Was that purely from over-celebration or was this fighting with rival fans?

Wasn't with rival fans as this was in Paris and the game was in Munich.

As I've said before, I'm so torn with him.  I really like him as a person and I think if he could get his first choice team out on a regular basis, we would be much higher up the league.  The runs of injuries has been ridiculous but I do wonder how much of that is down to how we play and how we train.

I've got no issue him being given the first 10-12 league games and see what happens.  I just can't see it happening though.

FWIW, Paratici is back in the building from 1st June (or is it 1st July? need to check that!) and he'll likely want his own man in.  Before the CL final, there was a lot of talk about Inzaghi coming to Spurs from Inter.  Interestingly, one of our board stepped down this morning.  Levy's right hand woman Donna Cullen.   She's always had a target on her back, along with Levy.  Maybe suggests changes are a coming.

I can see why you'd sack him as the league performances were terrible. But i think once he got past that week where you lost at Villa and got hammered at Liverpool to exit both domestic cups and the league was done and he didn't lose his job at that point, then it's surely saying to everyone that everything rests on winning the Europa........which he did.

Ultimately he's achieved better (getting CL football) than if you'd won nothing and finished 6th. Would he have kept his job if he finished 6th? Highly likely.

So i think if you weigh up the end result of getting CL football, all the injuries he had to deal with, plus the fact the players seem to love him, then i think he has to at least be given the start of next season. By all means if things don't look good by October/November then fair enough get rid, but not now.
  • Totally agree with all of that.  But the one sticking point in my mind, if you give him 10-12 games and we're shit again, who would want to come mid season without a pre-season to get them drilled into the shape that the new manager would want them in, both physically and tactically.

I hope he stays and he proves everyone wrong but head is ruling over heart I think.
