I'd like to see him played in his natural position.

Why would you look at a player like that and think they could play advanced?
Thats where we've really messed up, and need correcting the most in January / the Summer

We've got Anderson / Berry as our forward box players

Then we've got Coventry - Taylor - Docherty - A.Campbell - Edun all vying for the other two roles.
And the problem is there isn't a single one of them that's promotion-level based on what they've shown for us. Get rid of all 7 and start again and I wouldn't complain. I'd maybe keep Taylor for set pieces and Anderson because he's still improving.

Luton just outside the Championship relegation zone, only 3 points ahead of Pompey who were the most bang average side to ever win a league title. If Luton don’t want him and Berry, then they shouldn’t be good enough for a team with serious promotion ambitions in League One, especially not as our two “big” summer signings.

I’d far far rather be watching Albie Morgan, it’s getting that bad.
I'd rather be watching Piers Morgan..
I'd even prefer the peg legged pirate Captain Morgan complete with Parrot.
Captain Morgan and his Hammond Organ would have some presence in midfield, I’m not sure what Campbell brings. So far it feels like he’s another one of Jones’s trusted guys, but it’s at least one season too many
  • I've said this before but will say it again .... he is extremely slow, is lazy, has no ball control, and is completely one footed. How he gets so much game time after the displays he has given is beyond me. He is awful.
  • I’d say he’s one of those players that makes himself busy running away from the ball and influencing a game rather than trying to get stuck in
  • Just don’t get it, can’t see what he brings to the table - we are so pedestrian, he’s been woeful, as others have said, he’s 26 played at a higher level and should be just entering his prime.

he has to be better than he’s shown so what’s gone wrong??

  • Watching him on the stream yesterday he looked to me like a moderate footballer (in terms of being able to kick a ball) who didn’t know what he is supposed to do.
I would play Kedwell from the unders before him.
  • Ali Campbell?

There's a rat in me midfield what am I gunna do .....
  • Pedestrian and woeful are the phrases I would use to describe him. How on earth he didn’t get exposed for pace when playing at a higher lever is beyond me ! It’s got to the point now where it’s slightly amusing watching him and Ahadme running through treacle

    He gets a 1 in 10.

I stayed out of much if the post match but I really can't be asked getting worked up about it no more.
But this fella epitomises what we are as a football club.
Promise so much. Deliver so very little.
  • Bottles every 50/50 challenge which is not what we need when our entire system is supposedly be built on pressing and causing mistakes

The strange thing is his work rate, pressing and aggression are supposed to be his strengths - it’s what he was known for at Luton.

He doesn’t look like the type of player for us. Just compare to Anderson who does stand out in that way compared to our other midfielders.
  • Jones doesn't like to help develop young exceptional loan talent which is why Caleb Taylor went to Wycombe and not us.
We got Campbell and should be thankful that we have such an oven ready player.

He only wanted loans he believed were exceptional, which is why we were close to loaning the young Arsenal GK.
  • He really seems to be an enigma.

When he signed I felt quite positive. Unlike Greg Docherty and Scott Fraser , he has got a full international cap for Scotland , so naively I thought he might be an upgrade., particularly because he played a key role for Luton in their Championship promotion season.

Luton sources felt he was Nathan's type of player although his loan spell at Millwall raised some alarm bells.

Let's hope he improves because currently he is not impressing at all other than the Birmingham game.

One of about 5 midfielders we have in the squad who I genuinely forget is playing whenever he is on the field.
It’s actually remarkable how anonymous our midfielders are almost every match. I’ve never seen anything like it, week after week on full time you think back and you can hardly remember any of them making good tackles or putting in a good pass.

Unfortunately, at the moment, he is 😠

Wouldn’t be surprising if he returns to Luton in January, along with Potts and Hylton being released. We’ll presumably have to free up budget somehow as I can’t see us not wanting a few signings.

Until the end of the season. Cheer up Ross he could have been signed on a permanent deal and given a 3 year contract

    Every cloud..
  • Isn't he on a season long loan so he can't be sent back in Jan?
  • We won’t be spending in January, of that I’m sure. A couple of young kids from Prem sides will be it. For me it’s now all about the owners and the summer transfer window. I suppose it might depend on who we lose to other teams but it’s obvious that the squad is woefully inadequate and needs four or five first team players in. Do the owners have the ambition for that because without a summer spend we’re going nowhere fast.

Depends if there’s a recall clause, but that isn’t always confirmed either way when season long loans are announced.

Bit of a rewrite of history no? Luton were expected to be challenging at the top end of the Championship.

Bet if you asked any Luton fan if they’d take Campbell, Berry and Jones back now they would bite your hand off for them.

It’s clearly not working for him at Charlton but I don’t think the logic holds up here.

I think Edun should be added to attacking options, merely for his cameo at AFCW where he contributed to our belated attempt to get back into the game. He has a bit of pace, can tackle, and has played there before.
  • Would love someone to ask Nathan Jones just what he was thinking bringing in a load of his old mates, particularly Alan Campbell who I can’t stand. Absolute rubbish
I think everyone's too scared, because it's the most obvious question.
But once again, what can he say?
"I thought I could rely on them, but they've all been absolute crap".

Enslin and Huke (injured?) are also options from U21s for creative roles.
