No attacking identity, no pressing from the front. Playing with wing backs and never getting them in possession of the ball in final third to create anything. a back line that still has Gillesphey in and a midfield that got given the run around by division 2 team
But apart from that ................................ ???
Gillesphey was part of an impressive first half performance, not sure what you was watching if watching at all .. the mid 3 controlled the game and was impressive first half then Wimbledon went 4 in mid and out numbered us a lot more in the second

Utter nonsense. Gillesphey was beaten in the air by their winger in the first five minutes and had to be dug out by Edwards on numerous occasions. He was lucky their mobile striker was coming off our right.
The midfield three were constantly out-muscled and provided only one pass for a wingback to cross. Their (mf3) only shot I remember was a weak one by Coventry, my six year old niece would have hit it harder.
Were you there, watch it on a stream, or just take a contrary view to other observers comments?
I'm not gonna claim I know a league position for us after this pre season and whilst it's not the doom and gloom some are making it out to be, it is concerning that neither Godden or Ahadme have even come close to scoring in pre season. I hope they're saving it up but a little concerned we are going to be dull as dishwater to watch next season.
Did you not see Dartford , Godden header today and Ahadme header on Slovakia …. How many goals did May score in pre season in fact he did not score till the 4th league game and that was only a pen
Neither Ahadme or Godden scored at Dartford. I understand your sentiment, but we're talking about 2 players Vs 1. All I'm saying is it would have been nice to see them grab one or two to build confidence, not writing anyone off yet.

Is Coventry still first name on team sheet silly bollocks ???
Are we gonna drag Alfie May into every match thread this season if things don't go quite to plan, or even if they do maybe...🤷♂️
Yes.
We sold the division’s top striker - despite having “wealthy owners”. It’s a kamikaze move. If he doesn’t fit - keep him, don’t let him go to a rival where he might fit. Simples.

the main thing I find odd is Ramsay has exclusively played RCB this preseason. Mitchell, Jones and Gillespie feels like the obvious back three but if that’s the case I’m surprised they haven’t been tried with Ramsay in front of them at all. I’m fine with Tennai as our back up RWB but if Jones is just using Ramsay in the centre then I’d be worried about Tennai or Asiimwe being first choice there
Hopefuly its partly because Jones doesn't want to reveal his hand too early
lol.
What? - You think its smart to play the first eleven for as many Pre-Season games as possible?
Actually why am I asking you this question!!
No, you said that Jones played a certain team because he didn't want to show his hand before the season starts.
What a load of nonsense. The season is 46 games long. Its not a cup tie where the opposition may be sussing you out. A month into pre-season I'd hope thezmamager knows his first 11-15 & the players know the style of play that is expected.
Another goal for Alfie at Walsall! still think Nathan has royally fucked up here! still maybe one of his replacements will score soon!!!
Yes I thought the same but just to put your mind at rest the goals are going to come from all over the pitch instead which is much better than relying on Alfie.
Would like to think so. Recent performances say otherwise.

Style of play, along with formations can change several times during a game to fit with the oppositions, pre-season games are there to get minutes in and formations/styles tried out prior to when the season starts for real. I can only assume that NJ has learnt from today, and will take forward to Portsmouth, prior to the important stuff against Wigan...

Hmm, I'll have to work a bit harder on the sarcasm
I would hope that if we play sides that match up 3-5-2, then NJ will realise that one of the three CMs will have to play quarterback, get the ball off CBs and put the wingbacks in. Otherwise prepare for a season of hoofball. Plenty on display today.

I’d take being as dull as dishwater if we got promoted.
Just written our home games up to end December on the kitchen calender, the first eight are pretty tricky.
Didn’t watch but am going next week but I can’t believe people read so much into pre season friendlies. It’s pre season and they are friendlies, start worrying when the season actually gets under way.

No... I said that Jones probably wont want to reveal his main eleven for as long as possible
Hence why he's mixing things up, playing a mixture of those you can expect to see on a regular basis, with those who'll play bit part role - Although I do agree, that you're probably right he probably does know his starting eleven...
But my post was saying, why does he need to show that to the rest of the League so early...? - You're right its a 46-game season, but we want to keep Wigan guessing for as long as possible don't we
Not to mention he can also use these friendlies to trial other possibilities; Ramsay for example has been trialled at RCB as GarryManilow was alluding to... But I still expect him to start the season as a Wing-Back.

All people are saying is put things in context. The season isn’t doomed based off of one afternoon on the pitch

Anyone that’s ever kicked a football of a decent standard knows friendlies mean fuck all.
