Josh Edwards

Thought he was excellent against Watford, had Baah in his pocket all game and contributed well going forward, hope his knock was minor.21

A Watford fans view on Edwards, go on Joshy boy

It's a shame for Josh that Scotlands main area of depth is LB with Tierney, Robertson and Doig0
-
I was very impressed with how he handled Baah. Edwards isn't the quickest but he made sure he got his body across Baah before he could really accelerate and then beat him for strength. The timing to do that and the concentration to be in the right place was really good11

He. Is. Our. Best. Player.
He reads the game so well, is almost unbeatable 1v1, doesn’t rely on pace, gets forward well too.…Chris Powell lite.7 -

Solly had incredible acceleration, but Josh's top speed must be up there with our fastest (see the penalty shout on Saturday)0

Hopefully for Josh with Robertson into his 30’s and tierneys injury history it won’t be long before him and Doig are battling it out for that position.MarcusH26 said:It's a shame for Josh that Scotlands main area of depth is LB with Tierney, Robertson and Doig2 -
There's probably a couple of others I've forgotten admittedly!Covered_End_Lad said:

Not compared to Wiggins though. Like Edwards he’d never be described as slow, but neither would be described as our quickest player.wmcf123 said:

Shared my love for him in the post-match thread on Saturday after a few Guinness..
Think he is going to relish the step up to this level and it was a great start against Baah. He'll be a 7/8 out of 10 on the player marks thread every game, proper defender and think he'll actually offer more going forward this year than last4 -
My Watford mate said he was our best player on Saturday purely because he kept Baah so quiet.
So tidy on the ball too, very rarely see a stray pass. One of the best signings we've made for many a year14 -
Didn’t look too bad to me, hopefully just precautionary taking him off.1

Deceptively quick, I think. Yes, he won't storm past a full back in a 60 m leg race like Thierry Small could but how often do you see a winger do it to him either? Partly how good his positioning is and how he gets tight to players and prevents them being able to turn and get squared up on him, but also, he has enough speed ion his legs to recover when needed.Scoham said:

I think he's my current favourite player. Just gets on with it and does his job to a high level every week. Left back has been a bit of a problem position for us in the last 5 to 8 years, but prior to that we tended to have good players there even if the rest of the team wasn't always the best - Reid, Minto, Barness, Bowen, Powell, Konchesky, Hreidarsson, Wiggins, Da Silva to name a few. Another good season this year and his name will be right in that sort of company.4 -
Love watching Joshua, whatever we paid for him was an absolute steal.
He's tougher than tough (as 'they say in Jamaica) but commits very few fouls.
Like the rest of Nathan's men he is a 100%er, long may he stay fit and fiery0 -
He's definitely my favourite. Everyone loves the star striker or the midfield maestro in a team, but for me, its the no nonsense, humble, skilled, tenacious players that I enjoy most. It's like he has Charlton DNA in his blood, the way he plays.Exiled_Addick said:

It's early doors for him at CAFC, but I completely agree he will be spoken of with the same degree of love and respect of the players who you've named above Exiled. I hope he's with us for many years.3 -
Not sure he was even injured as I think Nathan Jones just wanted to get MG on the pitch for increased threat in the box.5
-
Hoping that was the case. Last season TC often went down and needed treatment just as he was about to be subbed. Tactical rather than injury.ElliotCAFC said:Not sure he was even injured as I think Nathan Jones just wanted to get MG on the pitch for increased threat in the box.0 -
Whoever scouted Edwards fair play.9

From where I was sat, Jones clearly shouted at him to go down when it looked like the game was going to start before they had the chance to make the sub. Think we ended up with two players lying on the floor to make sure the sub happened in the endElliotCAFC said:Not sure he was even injured as I think Nathan Jones just wanted to get MG on the pitch for increased threat in the box.1 -
He’s a Scottish Terrier. Refuses to be beat.0

A lot of people quite rightly talk about Ramsay attracting interest from bigger clubs, but it would not surprise me if Edwards is on a few clubs radars after this season.3

He’s not in Chris Powell’s league either . He is excellent though .balham red said:

Think Josh was like £75k with add-ons or something? Absolute steal.CAFCsayer said:1 -
I love the BTS/socials videos with Edwards as well, seems a great laugh around the camp. When NJ played him at Wigan first game last season instead of Small, I was thinking he'd lost the plot. I soon changed my mind - think he put in at least 2 goal saving tackles that day!1
