Im actually surprised that there are so many types of domestic light bulbs, you would have thought that the manufacturers would have standardised on just a half dozen or so by now.
A makeshift solution could be to work out which lamps/bulbs/lights work, and try to rearrange them so there's not gaping holes in the floodlight lineup as it stands? Say 20% of them are faulty, you just line them up in a 4 on, 1 off arrangement, and I don't think anyone would notice
I wouldn't even risk touching the ones that work. With so many not working you run the risk of moving the ones that do work and then find that moving them causes them to stop working too.
Sounds like my Christmas lights. I wonder of the cables get themselves in an unimaginable tangle during the summer months as well.

Can I be the last to say that the floodlight issues sound very similar to issues with the old bulb Christmas tree lights but at least not like the new LED ones where they may last a bit longer but you seem to have to replace the whole lot when they go 🤣
I'd like to be the first to say these lights are nothing like my Christmas tree lights. The lights on my tree are reliable and have lasted many years and I didn't get them from BHS

That’s so true! I spent about two hours on Amazon recently trying to find replacement bulbs for our 10 year old kitchen lights. Felt like I needed a degree in engineering to choose the right ones. Anyway I failed as they now flicker. So best of luck, CAFC.
It seems they have a solution. If a few additional bulbs have already been sorted then we can surely lose that number and still have the same light which has been acceptable so far. I would imagine LED floodlights may even get cheaper in a few years so no problem keeping the lights we have now and fixing the broken ones where we can.
As Henry has said, the issue is more that they didn't have a solution earlier but then we know what previous regimes were like. I don't know what the electricity cost differential is in a season, but I would imagine keeping the old bulbs and replacing them is sensible enough for a ground you don't own.
I don’t think the ground ownership is material to this issue, unless the club (or the ownership) was planning to leave. Clearly you wouldn’t build a stand without more secure tenure, but not investing in the lights when you have a problem because the lease expires in nine seasons would be a strange economy.
Probably best that everyone remembers to fully charge their phones before they go to the games in case we all need to switch the phone lights on. Perhaps the club could give us a heads up if the situation arises by playing a pre agreed song over the tannoy we could all sing along and wave the phone about to at the same time…
didnt we have a man with an Hawk? its probably been Charltonised and off injured.
That was me..... many years ago , and in some ways i have been charltonised , my knees have gone .
A new legend is born! Bring back the hawk I say. Before every game!
(Next bit off topic)
We had a pigeon problem at a place I worked once, but were told having a hawk in probably wouldn't work for some reason (too open or something?). Anyway, a few weeks later, lo and behold, on the lawn out the back, I find a sparrowhawk lunching on one of the pigeons. It was pretty amazing to see for the first time.
Do you still work with them?
No longer work for them , used to do lots of grounds around the country , the idea is not for the bird to eat the pigeons but the presence of it being around is the deterrent , if the Hawks does catch one and eat it thats their day over as once they have fed they will no longer want to hunt .
I know that feeling well, although it tends to be hunting in a pub and snoozing after.

The heads up / sign will be AMB mysteriously dropping to his feet with no one around him !
The floodlights have been poor all season. After it was raised during the meeting 2 weeks ago, magically they start to get fixed...
It was first raised in that meeting by CM though, probably because he knew it was a likely question and that they alresdy had the solution in place.
It should never have been allowed to get to this stage but the fault lies as much with previous regimes as this and to their credit this lot have actually done something about it.

But a long time into their tenure.
Still smacks of penny pinching delay whilst we can fund an enlarged SMT.
Thought the pitch was going to be responsible for an injury to Godden this evening. He turned on the touchline in front of the East Stand and the turf gave way. He went over on his ankle and looked in real trouble initially thankfully he was ok.
Yes, but to fix the bulbs in the floodlights did they have to take the valves out of the tannoy system? From the Lower North it sounded like every other syllable was being dropped when player names were being announced tonight

Knowing us the bulbs went and the lamps are also faulty.
Maybe we could plant the bulbs and hope for photosynthesis to recharge them.
Many hands make lights work
Just who makes these decisions?
