What's the chances of the game being called off for a frozen pitch today? Slim? (Genuine question!)

    Thanks!
  • Thought it was funny when TC scored that he couldn't slide on the pitch, the surface is that bad in that area that he ended up going straight on his face ha

If we avoid playing any games on the pitch until the first team's next home game, we have 2 full weeks. Is this long enough to plant new seeds or is this futile? Pretty sure it needs a lot longer.
  • Noticeable today were the circles where the sprinklers pop up. Almost looked like dead grass around them from a distance. That doesn't smack of overuse, just something very wrong with the grass taking.
  • The issues with the pitch clearly aren't just down to normal wear and tear, otherwise the usual places would be worse around the centre circle and penalty areas. And they're not.
  • The pitch needs looking at, the floodlights as well, the food and drink.   There are so many things it is bordering on laughable.

Maintenance of everything seems to have taken a back seat.

Grass will only grow if the temperature is above 4C.

Clubs routinely use heaters and lamps on their pitches.

We can't be the first team to have had issues with one of these pitches in its first year, there's got to be some recommended work that can be done
  • The bloody floodlights are embarrassing, where we sit well actually stand by the corner flag and tunnel is a lot darker

Isn't our pitch getting double the football played on it? I wonder if maybe it should have had more than a summer before being used for both the Men and Women
The same amount that Leyton Orient is getting and they appear to have none of the issues we are having
Was their pitch re-laid in the summer?

Including the buying of players probably.....we'll soon find out.

Bromley v Newport this season, they have taken up their 3g and replaced it with this.

From the East Stand, that corner by the players entrance looks very gloomy. Ridiculous that out of a cluster of 12 lights only 2 are working.

Ha you're right near me, we were saying the exact same thing yesterday that there's a noticeable dark spot in the corner from the floods being out. The ground is a little bit concerning at the moment...
  • I agree that the floodlighting in the players tunnel corner needs sorting.
Things like that, functioning turnstiles, flushing toilets and so on should all be fixed before the next home game.
  • Who is responsible for the general upkeep of the stadium? We are after all tenants.

If you are renting a house and the electrics and plumbing aren't right then the landlord sorts it out. If Roland is responsible for these things (toilets, floodlights etc) then I assume there is little to no chance of them being fixed.

Big difference between residential and commercial leases. The club are almost certainly responsible for this type of cost.
  • The club have responsibility

    Not even in doubt.

Why do the players continue to warm up along the obviously worn channels in front of the AC Stand? I’m not saying this is the cause of them but surely you would switch sides?

In the same way, why do the keepers warm.up in the same spot, in front of block f Lower Covered End, with that cutting up

Good point, but who's responsible for the upkeep/maintenance of those flags on the roof of the ACS? Bloody state they are. Sort it out!!!!

There's undoubtedly something wrong, but what? It seemed like our pitch change started later into summer than would be ideal, then the weather we've had since the season begun hasn't exactly been the best.

My bet is the grass hadn't taken in time for the season start, then the poor weather has worsened the situation with it cutting up more.

If it has been done last summer, who knows maybe it'd be perfect. Using teams who had their pitches done last season for comparison isn't ideal as they've had a full year of being installed.

I'm not saying it isn't shit, or defending anyone, but I do have questions as to whether anyone is at fault or it's simply shit luck. Being an Addick, it's more likely the latter in my mind.

Agree, it might well be bad luck. The club just needs to give supporters an update. It wouldn't take much.

    It’s too dark.

100% the club, not the landlord
  • Anyone else notice pre match on Saturday about half a dozen chaps on the pitch standing in a loose huddle, holding their garden forks presumably and seeming to just be passing the time of day between themselves ?. I don’t have much of a real clue as to why they go on the pitch but naively I’ve always thought it was to wander around the pitch looking for patches to stick their forks into the ground, not to stand there and have a chat.
