Did I just hear Scott just say that they actually have rehearsals for today...🤷‍🙄
  • May and Chuks off the bench at 3-0 down will be a gamechanger.
  • Jones really doesn't like Edun does he? Another manager leaving Louie Watson out as well, they can't all be wrong I guess. The only one I am really not sure warrants a starting place is Anderson. I just don't and never have got the hype with him.
I thought he battled hard against Lincoln. Pretty sure he'd have been left out if he hadn't, Jones clearly doesn't mind dropping anyone.
  • Remember going to Bolton with my old man back in our Premier Division hey-day. I think we drew but I admired Claus Jenson playing for them, so was delighted when we eventually signed him.

No one is a guaranteed starter in that team. Alfie will come on angry and that's what we need. Ballsy selection from Jones but I like it.
Alfie May doesn’t struggle with motivation. The bloke is a goalscorer. Ladopo is a passenger.
  • Don't mind the midfield but I'm surprised Bakinson has been completely frozen out. Think he could be useful as an attacking midfielder to replace Anderson later in the game.
  • second half subs of May and Aneke will be interesting.
  • I know Chuks cant start a game but when he does come on we are usually losing & chasing the game. I wonder if a manager would be bold enough to start him & sub him after 30 mins just to see if we can grab the lead.
  • Small over Edun is a big call especially as I don't think Small has played any football this year.
  • Interesting line up today... Be good to see if Small is worthy of a longer contract this afternoon.

Edun has been garbage recently tbf, but Small is a punt. I think we always look poor with Anderson in midfield as well. Benching May is a big call. Be interesting to see what the press is like without him running after everything

    Baffling line-up, it really is
Not really. May is by far our least physical striker and this is a tough away game, not that surprising Jones wants more height and strength up front.

Sensible decision not to start Aneke and Camara’s also working his way back.

Small got to be worth a go with Edun not impressing.
Depends on how the first half goes I guess, if Bolton are out of sight by the time that the “impact” subs are due to come on, then it was pointless (in more ways than one)
If they are out of sight we need not risk the impact players. Keep them fit for winnable games, in which I include Portsmouth.

Anderson scrapped for everything on Tuesday, did not hide from any challenge or header unlike Bakinson.

    We need fighters.
Agree. Bakinson does nothing much wrong or right, but we certainly need fighters in the team.

Should be trying to get three points in every single
    game.
  • Don’t mind that team, though might have kept May and gone with Ladapo from the bench again.

Karoy Anderson is there because he’s got so much energy. That’s clearly a trait that Jones values very highly. He wants pressing and legs in midfield. That’s why it was him and Bakinson on Tuesday, Anderson has more quality than Bakinson he’s just struggled to show it so far in senior football

Agreed, yoof product is the reason why it’s not questioned more
Jones has plenty of options for midfield and yet he picks Anderson - he must see something in him. I expect he it’s around the running he does and challenging for the ball. They’re not things that Bakinson or Watson stand out for.
  • May has been stroppy (understandably) in recent weeks therefore can see why he has been benched. Hopefully we are still in the game in the second half and he can come on and make a difference.

Still can’t believe T.Watson is getting a game. He has been poor before and since NJ came in. Ramsey being out completely is probably the only reason he is playing.

I Can understand why NJ is experimenting. We haven’t got a best 11, therefore he can only go on what he sees in training leading up to the game. Maybe something will click and we will get some luck along the way.

Having said that, I can only see a heavy defeat today.
  • If there is an upside Ian Evett will have had a real challenge predicting what we're going to be like.
  • On paper this is the toughest of our games still to play, would love if we outplayed them but that is unlikely, the exact sort of game we should be fighting for our lives and trying to nick it one nil.
  • Ramsay on Bolton bench

  • May hasn't done anything in months so no surprise to see him benched
  • May and Chuks off the bench at 3-0 down will be a gamechanger.
That’s what I think NJ plan is, try and still be in the game with 20 to 30 minutes to go and send the big guns on, that’s a big ask.
  • His coats on (coats on)
    Sat down (sat down)
Alfie May is on the bench
What the f***, excuse my french
  • Joking aside, Alfie’s not been right and Jones very much looks like he’s putting down markers. Problem I see though is your option for the last 20-30 is Chuks, so not sure where Alfie fits in.

  • PWR

Told May knackered as has a six week old baby in the house.

No Santos so we might have some shots on goal.

Alfie will be coming on with fresh legs and Chuks against a defence that hopefully will have been given a tough time and a few sly digs by Kanu, Ladapo and small up until that point
  • The challenge is can we stay in the game till 30 mins to go and then hopefully our subs will make a difference

long throw specialist to come on and chuck the ball at Chucks.
  • Keep it tight then bring on Aneke for one of the front two and May for one in midfield to play just behind, smash and grab, leave with all the points.

A midfield three of Dobson, Coventry & Anderson means the Bolton midfield should get no time on the ball.
  • Looking forward to seeing Alfie and chuks together up top. Hopefully the game isn't over by the time they come on.
