Not having the majority blame being passed on to Sandgaard & Roland, these so called football people created this team, hired the likes of Appleton.
If we are relegated it is all on them.
If we end up in League 2, a large amount of blame goes to previous owners too. They started our descend with reckless business decisions. You can’t say all of the possible relegation is on current owners (yes, a large amount is also on them).
I thought that Isted and Jones did ok, as did Camara and Kanu in their cameos, but that was about it. Shorn of CBT, we carried practically no threat up top, with Ladapo slow, wooden and totally out of form. Absolutely nothing stuck up front. The wing backs, Eden and Watson, are useless and the the defence continues to look disorganised and very shaky. In contrast, Reading knew what they were doing and ran out comfortable winners.
The whole structure of the side is poor and I'm afraid that the dismal recruitment of recent years has most certainly caught up with us - greatly exacerbated by Andy Scott's lamentable decision making in the last couple of windows. The £300,000 received for CBT and whatever paltry fee we receive for Dobbo - the one man you absolutely want in a backs to the wall relegation dogfight - are going to constitute a massive false economy if we drop into League 2. Sadly, that is now a very real possibility and, if we fail to win on Tuesday, I can't see us earning more than a point from the following three games this month against the top 3. In that event, I think we'll be odds on for the drop, even with 10 games to play.
I'm glad NJ made most of the changes that I wanted to see, but it's all for naught if we keep defending so poorly and create so little. I've been worried for a while about our form, but now sh*t is getting pretty real. Main offenders today were the "wing backs", but it's more square pegs as both of them are simply limited defenders. In any 3 at the back system that relies on those players to get up and down for ~100mins at full energy and they were both poor. Edun has consistently defended poorly all season and looks like a constant liability. TWatson has occasionally shown defensive desire, but often has a mistake in him. Both are truly awful going forward and regularly look like CBs on their weak foot in crossing positions when they should do infinitely better.
We didn't get to see much of positive note going forward, because it feels like their confidence is lacking. Never felt like we were ever going to sneak one and every defense we are coming across feels like it's some kind of jacked, 90s Italian stalwart defense - we are poor ourselves, but it never feels like we have any consistent threat. Without CBT, we have so very little and I think losing him is the biggest factor. We poked and prodded for the first 10 mins and then that was kinda it. I feel so sorry for all those who did go, because we barely gave anything for them to really get excited about. Reading should not be where they are in the league for a myriad of reasons, but their defense was decimated in January and yet, even with Alfie up front, there's nothing happening up front.
Things to hope for on Tuesday night:
- Revert to 4 at the back and probably play a diamond/box etc, but still playing to win the game and not hang on. - Give one/two of the new full backs a chance to start. - Kanu comes in to start over Ladapo. Ladapo's first touch remains poor. - Persist with LWatson and get him/Coventry more on the ball in the middle, rather than wide. - Consider starting Camara over Bakinson. - Pray Chuks is back soon for a 15-20min cameo. Save us Aneke, you are our only hope.
If we can't fix this rut soon, it's so worrying. The lack of goals is the scary part. Somehow, we need to claw our way out of this or the unthinkable is becoming a reality.
Perhaps Nathan was saying the other day without actually saying it that IF we went down then the rebuild starts there the way he did with Luton.... His players not other peoples.
Let's be honest we've seen this coming for years and it's been miserable.
Okay getting relegated isn't exactly what we all want but if it means we keep Jones, clear out the rubbish, bring in some players who have a backbone, keep the money men and get rid of the SMT then I'd be okay with it.
The club needs a reset and a clean slate.
Even if by a miracle of biblical proportions we stay up then we still need to cull and let Nathan run it...we can't keep papering over the cracks.
I am sure Jones leant a lot today but be he should have already have learnt some things from the other coaches and videos, he should have learnt that Ladapo is not much good and our two wingbacks do not fulfil their function - simple stuff. Jones is no the saviour that most of you proclaim.
I don’t have any issue with the players if they are not good enough. That falls down to Scott.
However lazy individuals who don’t give their all for the shirt, can go back to their respective parent clubs they came on loan from or the ones on permanent deals can go and train with the Under 21’s.
No excuse for not putting a shift in. Ship up or do one.
Whilst many of our fans run dry with excitement over tayo camara Eden lap and lauded our academy products others sat watched and learned there pretty much shite in general.
All this Negativity and our new manager has only just watched his first game. I think any Charlton fan with a brain should Give Nathan Jones and his colleagues at least 6 Games before you all give up and say we are relegated and Fucked !!!
I don't see how, if (by some miracle) we find ourselves in the last match of the season with our continued presence in the Division in our own hands, the team have the ability and resolve to keep us up.
But, the way things are going, that will be the one disappointment that we won't experience this season.
We've been too easily out-muscled, out-thought and out-fought all season for there to be any expectation that we're anything but doomed.
I'd really love for young Mr Jones to prove me wrong...

Youve got be off your nut having doubts over NJ, maybe we should bring back Appleton, he’d have a go sorting things out! (Not saying you Callum!).
I know people are looking for a new manager bounce, well we’re on our 3rd this season!
I keep banging on about, staying us up this season would be a huge achievement.
I know we don’t want to hear it because we think we should be in higher division, but so many mistakes have been made, in such a short space of time.
I can’t ever remember bringing in 4 defenders in a January transfer window?
Have we improved, I’d say not, we’re playing like a team of individuals, big task for NJ, Hart and Fleming.
We will soon be looking back at the Roland age as a golden era.
an absoliute shit show
wing back let is down
we are crap and I’m pissed

Nathan Jones has one hell of a job on his hands.

Ramssay & Small for Edun & Watson (don't know much about the 2 wing backs, but can't be any worse)
Hopefully Camara is fit to start in midfield
Kanu for Ladapo.
Let's see what happens

These remaining months are a free hit for him.
Some of these players and more importantly those who recruited them don't deserve our support.

If we go down and NJ bails …
